I will be finishing up my Associated degree in 2 months but Im still not sure in what to major in. Out of all the business majors, Marketing is the one the grabs my attention the most.

Because I enjoy working with people, im analytical, creative, self starter, very ambitious and self driven I thought that Marketing would be the best match. My original intention was to Major in Marketing/Advertising and double major or minor in Management or Economics. However, Ive been reading that due to the economic downfall perhaps majoring in marketing would not be the best idea since most employers cannot afford the cost.

I really like the concept of advertising and trying to promote a product through creative ideas and designs but at this point I'm just really confused about what would be the best choice and would attract future employers more.

Choices ive considered:

Major ... and ... Minor

Marketing ......... Management
Management ....... Marketing
Marketing ........ E-commerce
Marketing ......... Finance
Marketing ......... Accounting
Double major in Marketing and Management

Well I"m a marketing major so I'm obviously going to promote that :P but I think it's a great major because even with the economy the way it is, businesses still want their products/services related to the public somehow. Though I'm not stupid and I know that the job market is getting competitive - so to enhance my resume and have a competitive edge I joined the AMA [American marketing Association] here and Cleveland State. It's a great networking strategy and it allows me to learn different marketing concepts first hand. As far as minors- I would advice either management or E-commerce because I think they would work better for a marketing major rather than finance or accounting [which aren't creative at all :( and that's what you said you like!] Hope that helps some.

Even though the economy might not be good now, its not really wise to change your career decision. If you are interested in something you are more likely to work hard at it and do it well. Think about it for the long term because you are going to be doing this job for the next 30-40 years and it would suck going to work everyday not liking it. If you hastily change your decision now and you want to go to marketing later on it could be harder because you might have other responsibilities and you have to take classes again and pay money.
