I had a professor the other day that said he didn't like blacks, Latinos, and made some jokes about them. He laughs about minority issues all the time. He says he doesn't like anybody in general, and is just crazy in general. Thoughts?

Report him.

(though it is confusing - you say “the other day” but then say “all the time” and “in general” - has this been going on for weeks?)

Bullying and/or discrimination by teachers should not be tolerated. If he is “crazy in general”, and you think his department would back him up, see if you or someone else can let the campus counseling center or chaplain know. Both should be confidential, though I would tell them in person not by email or phone.

Reminds me of this case:
<a href=“FOX 29 News Philadelphia”>FOX 29 News Philadelphia;

The story was complicated by the fact that the guy had some kind of head injury in the past, and apparently people thought that “made him racist” in that he lost some of his self-control. The guy ended up selling the store.

Are you serious? That is outrageous. You should report him, but also ask other students to do so, as well.

It saddens me when I hear such stories, because if I haven’t witnessed it, I can’t report it.

Depending on what state you are in, you could be able to record one of his rants and bring it to the counseling center or chaplain. Some states allow recording if only one person agrees.

New member. Outrageously inflammatory post. You make the call.

I dunno, @WasatchWriter, I’ve taught for 35 years and I’ve certainly heard of racist professors who were removed from tenured positions, and the literature is full of reports of such behavior (just google). That the OP combines racism with craziness makes the post more plausible. I myself have seen quirky, don’t quite fit personalities become racially and sexually offensive as they get older. And with no age limit on how long a professor can teach, it wouldn’t surprise me if a mentally infirm or aging professor had begun to spew hateful rhetoric. All this is not to say that the professor in question isn’t a healthy-bodied full-blown racist who thinks he can hide behind academic freedom, freedom of speech, or tenure and utter such rhetoric in the classroom. Schools that don’t respond to such student accusations soon find themselves wishing they had.

@jkeil911 If so, then I would hope this clown’s number is just about up. Kids not only report this stuff so often today, they take video on their phones. Assuming this is real, someone’s gonna have a lens trained on him from now on. Count on it.

Marketbull sure enters CC with a first and only provocative post. ■■■■■ until proven otherwise. Sorry, not feeling the “benefit of the doubt” today.

^ Yeah. And wait a sec- OP says this guy claims he doesn’t like anybody…and then goes down a list-? I think OP may be baiting good natured folks.

ok…there are some signs that this is a ■■■■■…
“'the other day” “thoughts”

I’m not a ■■■■■, it is true, but oh well. People can say whatever they want in class these days. It doesn’t matter who gets offended.

there’s more ■■■■■ in your second and third sentences than your first.

I’m not a ■■■■■. But it’s time to move on.
