We know someone in the neighborhood who graduated maybe 4 or 5 years ago from Haverford with a degree in CS, he told me that the program there was on the small side. He said that it was becoming more popular and more students were majoring. Not sure about these days?
The best way to find out would be to arrange a visit soon or attend their accepted students open house on April 14th. You could email or call the department ahead of time to see if someone will be there or look at their course catalog and see how many courses are being offered.
Anyone else’s kid going to the fly-in weekend that includes open campus day? My D is going and really excited to get to stay on campus- ED students mostly aren’t afforded that opportunity.
son got waitlisted at H but has already put down a deposit to another school that we attended during an accepted students day. highly recommend those! will always love Haverford, great school. good luck to all.
Does anyone know anything about the international financial aid waitlist? Does it mean I have higher chance of getting in than the waitlist students?
@mingmong0 My son was in the CS program several years ago. It is definitely small, but it is larger than when he started because they knew they needed to expand it as more kids entered the program. He and his friend who graduated both got great jobs after college, if that helps at all. If I were you, I would look at the courses offered and see if that’s what you’re looking for, as they don’t have a lot of AI or game theory or much outside of the typical basics.
Wow - my DS was flat out denied RD with a 34 ACT, 4.8 GPA 8 AP’s, varsity captain, job, community service activities and stellar recommendations. Great all around kid who is humble and a great friend. Good Alumni interview/recommendation and from rigorous prep school. He also had an offer as a starter on one of Haverford’s major spots teams. His downfall is that coming from a single parent family, he qualifies for a lot of financial need. It’s ok, he’s going where he is wanted instead and will do just fine.
@“lemon drop” @megan12 thank you for your comments
@milgymfam I signed up for that a couple of days ago! I think the registration deadline for that just passed, so I was wondering if anyone else got a confirmation email yet about the details?
@microdrop18 in the end my D isn’t able to attend the program. We couldn’t get the logistics to work once they sent travel info, even with their paying for the travel. She was upset but they were very kind about it.
I have not received any mail regarding my admission. Is there anyone else in the same situation?
@1Page10 Are you international? If so, you should have received an email in advance of a postal mailing. At this point my advice is to contact the Admissions Office directly regarding your decision.
Does anyone know what the groupme is for the class of 2023?
Anyone admitted off the waitlist?
@pigustavo the class of 2023 is currently full, so they couldn’t offer anyone a spot. however, if anyone withdraws their admission to go to another school then there is a chance you could still get in based on the “extended wait list”
