Hey, I'm Cindy, going to Havergal College for grade 9. For those of you that don't know where Havergal is, it is in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I'm asian, I play OBA (Ontario Basketball Association) and play one year up. Hmm...Can ppl just reply and give your opinions on this school. I'm extremely anxious to go there as a day student and get out of my hell hole of a public school i've been in for 10 YEARS!!! 10 YEARS!!!

All I know is that it's one of the top prep schools in Canada. Isn't it UCC's sister school or something? The campus is really pretty; I walked by it a few years ago when I was in Toronto.

That's good to hear since one of my friends is going to Branksome Hall and they have the IB Program. So I'm happy that Havergal is up there.

I am no girl, but I do know a few people who go to Havergal in your grade. If you compare them amongst girl schools, they should be one of the top. But through recent years people have said Bishop Strachan is the better one.

There are tons of events there, which are quite fun (i.e. Havergal Celebration, Coffeehouse, etc.). And located in an area with a ton of other private schools (UCC, BSS, BH, SCS), there are a few times where there would be a 'inter-school' assignment where you have to do work with other schools.

By the way, I can bet you many kids in the IB program are not doing as well as before they got into the program.

Yeah, I've sort of prepared myself in expecting lower grades once I get there because I know the standards will be much lower. Ummm... and yea! I'm a humungus sports person and I know Havergal loves hockey but too bad i'm not a hockey person.

i meant much higher oops..

hmm...do u need an ssat there or anything

yeah...im from ontario too...taking IB also....its pretty hard....theres alot of pros and cons about it

I dont know about chances...but if u are OFSAA bball material...you'll have a high chance..

yea i had to take an ssat. I'm definitely OFSAA bball material and i'm already going there next year.. i'm so exccited :)!!! I'm just bummed that private schools play CISAA instead of OFSAA.. unless you're a senior but ya.. i hate that!! But I'm loving the facilities!!

What'd you get on the SSAT?

What are the best co-ed private schools in Toronto?

I only got a 72 percentile but I barely studied because I had a limited amount of time. Like my application was given on the day of the deadline, that's how close it was. And for Jonathan1, I don't know about co-ed schools.. maybe the University Of Toronto Schools... something like that

Co-ed schools eh??

University of Toronto Schools is like the prime school for gifted people. The only chance you can get in is in grade 6 because only 2% of their overall admissions are for grades other than grade 6. So your chances there are like worse than AESDCH.

Some of the co-ed schools I know is: Appleby College, Lakefield College School, The York School (IB) and the Country Day School. But if I were to pick the best one, it would be Toronto French School cause they're pretty famous for their languages dept. I hear you have the option to do French Literature, which is like 2nd year Harvard french (Thats what my friend said). But I can't really say which is neccessarily the best.

icic... that's tough. I was actually tested for gifted and I was robbed!! 96%.. I mean 1% more?? What sort of bs is that? I was so mad in gr 6 when i got those results... they'll regret it one day!! :) :) :)
