If someone has a Youtube channel how many subscribers/watch hours/videos should that have to look impressive on college applications? I’m thinking of applying to some top colleges. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! (Ps. please don’t answer “you shouldn’t start a channel just for college” - I know its a preexisting channel)

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Then you should not have named your thread “Starting a Youtube [sic] Channel,” so I edited it. And please don’t tell people what they can and cannot post.
oops my bad
For MIT, 15K. For Berkeley, 12K. For Harvard, 13.5K. For UCLA, 10K.
What answer were you expecting? None of us know.
I’ve heard MITis actually 16k now - competition is getting tougher every year…
When Harvard talked about an example of an impressive enough applicant in the 2018 lawsuit, they mentioned that one example of a strong applicant was someone who made a game that had “hundreds of thousands of downloads”. It is likely similar for youtube. I would expect at least 100k (probably more since there are around 160k channels with over this many subscribers) for very competitive schools but obviously I have no idea. Just a warning that this is a go big or go home kind of move. It’ll either help a lot or you’ll have spent a large portion of your high school life building a huge channel. I personally think that revenue is more impressive than subscribers so if you ended up building a brand that would be more impressive (making 10k a month in high school will show colleges that you will probably be successful in the future). Another massive factor is the content. A youtube channel on science phenomena is much more impressive to colleges than Fortnite Weekly Clips. I personally would not recommend doing this for colleges, however it may be worth doing if you enjoy it.
