I am interested in science/math but am still unsure about what I want to major in. Here are my stats:

SAT's: CR 690, M 800, W 710 (CR+M=1490 and CR+M+W=2200)
GPA: 4.21 (straight A's, but not straight A+'s)
Extracurriculars: Biology Club, Math Team, Student Forum, World Culture Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Christian Youth Group, Talisman (men's small choir), Drama

Schools I am planning on applying to:
Brown (Early Decision)
Penn
Johns Hopkins
Dartmouth
Rensseler Polytechnic Institute
Cornell

Schools my parents are making me apply to just for the hell of it:
Harvard
Yale
MIT

I think that I have too many reach schools and too few match schools. I visited Williams and Tufts, but took them off my list. Can someone please help me find some match schools?

If you like Brown, you might want to look at some of the LACs that are often associated with it: Wesleyan, Vassar, Oberlin, Reed, Hampshire, Skidmore (though the last two are more safties).

Tonyspizza: Wes is very strong in the sciences. I think Oberlin is too. Vassar and Reed are both very strong all around, I don't know about sciences in particular. Hampshire might be more humanties oriented though.

Thanks weskid...i'll consider vassar and wesleyan (some of the others are too far away)...do you know any national universities that are good matches for me...
they don't necessarily have to be like brown...but i would like medium sized schools (4000-10000 is ideal) that i would have a good chance of getting into
do you think U of Virginia, UNC, and Georgetown are matches for me?

u. of rochester and carnegie mellon are more safeties more me i think, based on past acceptance rates at my school...i've heard that brandeis is predominately jewish...and I don't have anything against judaism or jewish people but I don't want to go to a school where the generally accepted belief is different from my own. I'm looking at georgetown right now. eh?

I think Brandeis is about half Jewish, the rest very mixed.

I'm never sure what to say about "matches" if you don't mention the type of classes you took, or if there are any awards on your record, but if you are considering national universities not in the east, Vanderbilt Univ. has about 6100 undergraduates. Big music town (no, not all country), lots of music on campus; I mention that only because you mention that you are active in a choir, so I'm guessing you like music.

Classes:
Junior Year:
AP English Language and Composition
AP Calculus BC
AP Chemistry
Honors Spanish
Honors US History
Honors Physics

Senior Year:
AP Economics
AP Physics
AP Biology
AP Statistics
Multivariable Calculus
Honors English

Awards: Rensselaer Medal, AP Scholar, School Excellence Award

I did choir for a year and a half and then junior year came around and I stopped...I like singing but it's not one of my priorities when choosing a college. I want to stay in the east, but thanks for the help! I don't know if my class list helps out at all, but I'm taking the hardest courses available at my school. I'm really into science, but undecided on which science I really like the best.

Thanks swish!
I think I'll probably add Georgetown to my list and then try to narrow it down. Rice is too far away for me and Williams and Mary doesn't really appeal to me. I really appreciate your help!

Brandeis is about 60% Jewish but officially non-sectarian. More than 30% Christian with both Catholic and Protestant chaplains and religious services available. It has good science departments. Your name sounds Italian-American. Brandeis is in Waltham,MA near Boston. Lots of Italian Americans around to make you feel at home. At Brandeis your ethnicity would contribute to "diversity" and this could help your chances. Consider it maybe as a safety.

no problem and yes georgetown and uva are matches. hmm let me think. ok vanderbilt, oberlin, vassar, UCB, Weslyan (already mentioned), Amherst College all sound like good matches for you. (UCB and Amherst a bit harder than the others though).
