"In line , the word _ most nearly means:"

Just replacing the word doesn't work for me because there are similar ones. Sometimes they are extremely obvious but sometimes I'm left with 2 that really confuse me. Assume that I know the definitions for the word and the words in the answer choices, so I'm just having difficulty discerning between two similar meanings. Any tips? :) Thanks!

Maybe leave it and come back later? Sometimes even when I know I have the knowledge to answer a question on a test, I start over-thinking and second-guessing and can’t make a decision. Looking at the question fresh can help you clarify the answer.

Look in the sentence before and after. There is often a synonym. For example, look at #13 on page 404 of the Blue Book. The word “notion” in line 2 is a synonym for “conception.”

Or it may be an antonym, as in #16 on page 479. “Unvarying” is a sort of opposite of “curves.”

As the user above posted, it always has something to do with the surrounding sentences. That’s why they always tell you to look for the closest meaning that would fit in the same context.

And these are by far the easiest CR questions bro, they’re like free points compared to the other questions.

Look at the question before you read the passage, underline the word, and as you read it think about what the word’s meaning is; think about another word you could use to replace it that would still have the same meaning.
