I'm a high school senior with a G.P.A. of 2.5 and a ACT score of 17. I live in the midwest. I would really like to attend Hawaii Pacific University or University of Hawaii-Manoa. I have been told by many people that it may be impossible for me to be accepted into these schools because of my low stats. I was thinking maybe I could go to a community college in Hawaii my first two years and then transfer to HPU or UH-Manoa. Do you think this plan will work? Please give me your feedback.

You could do that - here is the website for the Hawai’i community college system so that you can research the details:
[University of Hawai’i Community College](http://uhcc.hawaii.edu/)

The cost of tuition per year appears to be around $8,000 - 9000, financial aid may be available, and the community colleges have open admission if you have a HS degree. But the big challenge would be the cost of living, including housing and food in Hawai’i - it’s double that of the typical midwestern town. You could just as easily do a community college near your home and transfer from there in two years.
