He doesn't want to do any sports or clubs...

Sorry, I’ll stop. I can’t really say for the others, but I’m done arguing on this thread. Got to go to school anyway, because it’s morning.

Hey, I’ll take PV’s place. I’m in the exeter sick ward atm and have nothing better to do. Sarum, Neato, adults are no better than children and deserve no greater amount of respect just for being adults. =)

No, no…just because you are a sicky, you must not misbehave here! How about some advice for the op’s son?

op…have you been frank with your son and let him know that no ec involvement will adversely affect his chances for college admission? I would also enlist the help of his advisor. Are there no required ec’s?? I thought most preps required at least one ec and or/sport per semester.

You’re right, nose. I sent you a PM as I don’t want to contribute to the further hijacking of this thread!

@ the OP
It’s been around 2 weeks. It’s really great that your S is making friends. Thats a huge success by itself which should be recognized. As far as clubs/sports, if he’s a very ambitious/type A/ CC person one talking to about it will bring some change. If he’s not then let him enjoy boarding school and he’ll still go to a great school thats not as competitive. The only difference that really amounts to is some pride and a couple pay grades. Thats a low price for four years of low stress happiness with your friends. If going to the most competitive schools is a really big deal for your son though he needs to get his act together. Make sure though, that its what he wants and not just what you want, because he can still make a ton of money and go to a great school just being a middling student at most of these boarding schools.
