Headshot/Resume Help

Thanks all! I figured that’s what I needed to do-- no dates-- and S’s coach told me to do it that way, but I wanted to see what the consensus was here on CC.

I, too, will be printing the resume on the back of the headshot-- I’ve got a great cardstock that is glossy/coated on one side, and matte-finish on the back. I’m also a graphic designer. so doing stuff like this is a cinch for me. I print on demand, so making changes/additions isn’t a problem.

NYU Tisch has some templates posted on their website – [url=<a href=“Student Affairs”>Student Affairs]R

The thing that saved my life was the 8" X 10" “Actor’s Paper” you can buy. No more cutting! The paper fits perfectly to the headshots. Also, some schools ask for different things on the resumes, so it really is not a good idea to print the resume directly on the back of the HS. The 8 X 10 paper makes the whole thing a breeze.

We got some of that too, but I wouldn’t do it again. I’ll take very good quality paper and use a sharp paper cutter to resize it.

My S got some info from Baldwin Wallace today, thought I’d pass along:

BW said at least 2 faculty members will be there but bring 3 to 4 just in case and it didn’t matter how he attached them together.

Prodesse, what didn’t you like about the actor’s paper (before I ■■■■■ the 'net looking for it)?

I have used the Actor’s Paper, and I love it. S does a program in NYC a couple times a year and always has to bring like 25 HS/R’s, and I am always waiting to the last minute to do things, so very glad I can just whip off the resumes on the 8x10 paper and not have to trim anything.

GSOMT - no need to ■■■■■ it’s on Amazon for 9.99!

When I said ■■■■■, I meant check Amazon first and move on from there if need be! LOL

I have a question as I sit here taking to the D. She had headshots done early this year with her natural hair color. She dyed it red a few months later. Should she get more headshots done? I now see why producers in the processional realm hate drastic changes.

Her headshots should look like how she looks when she auditions. So, if she will have red hair at auditions she should have headshots with red hair.

I was afraid she was gonna say that GSOMT. My S just got his hair cut waay shorter than normal. I held up his head shot and say “See this? As cute as that cut is that hair needs to get back to THIS by November” LOL Good news is she can dye it and I’m sure his will grow.

:-) Basically it is because the headshot is one of the things used to remember you by. If you no longer look like your headshot, there are diminishing returns. A little different… not the end of the world… shoulder length hair to a buzz cut, or blonde to brunette… a bigger issue. ;-)

I KNEW that would be the answer but hoped to see a “aw, that’s okay. Use that headshot anyway!” LOL!! Now she’s saying she may want to dye it back to her natural color. Mature teen or not, she’s still a fickle 17 year old! Jesus take the wheel!!! HAAAAAA
updating the to do list…

For 8 x 10 paper . . . we just bought a ream of resume paper, took it to the “counter” at Office Max and asked them to cut it with their machine-cutter. I’m sure other office supply stores have that capability. Then when you create the resume template, set the “page setup” to 8 x 10. So much easier now for my D to modify and print her resumes.

Quick question – the headshot D likes the best is landscape rather than portrait. Does that matter?

It does not generally matter whether the pic is landscape or portrait.

My D’s favorite is also landscape too!

Is it ever ok to have two photos on a “headshot” — maybe contacting serious/smiling shots?

No. That would be weird. You have to pick one.
