Health Insurance?

Hello - My DD is very excited to be joining the Class of '16. That means that we have to start figuring out some of the nitty gritty details of sending her off to GW.

Does anyone have any experience using a family (non-Aetna) insurance plan while at GW? Does the health center really provide detailed bills upon request or does it make it a real hassle to get what you need to submit to outside insurers? It seems crazy to buy another plan when we can keep our daughter on our plan for free, but I have heard from parents at other schools that sometimes it is not worth the hassle to try to make your own plan work. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Also, our high school guidance counselors have told us to be alert not to miss deadlines to accept merit awards. So far, I have discovered no way to accept GW's merit award to my DD. I am assuming that it will just be applied to her bill. Am I missing something?

Many thanks for any information.

On the same site you viewed the financial aid offer there is another tab that reads “accept award offers”

Thanks Nate. Nothing is showing up there yet so maybe an email is in order.

@DayLily, I just called financial aid with your exact question. They informed me that an email will be sent to the students instructing them to log in and accept the financial award offer.

Best of luck!

Hi! I have a merit scholarship to GW and I haven’t received any emails as of yet. Just wondering if everyone is in the same boat as I am…
