I see on our initial billing statement that there is a $1300 per semester health insurance. We have existing employer sponsored insurance and intend to have our son remain on our family policy.
Do we need to purchase the $2600 Stevens health insurance ? What additional coverage might it provide beyond our existing insurance ?
If you already have insurance, you can go here http://www.universityhealthplans.com/ click on Stevens and follow the prompts for the health insurance waiver. You will need your student’s ID number to complete the waiver. Once you have submitted the waiver, print a copy for your records.
After you do this, the health insurance fee should drop off of your bill in a few days. If you want to pay it now, just remove the insurance fee amount and pay the remaining amount. I think payment is due by August 6 this year but check to be sure.
btw there is a health office located on campus that has set hours where students can be seen by a nurse or doctor if they are not feeling well. They will assess and recommend further action if needed. This is included with your student fees and is separate from the health insurance. http://www.stevens.edu/sit/health (Health center hours and doctor availability)
