My son will be pre-med this fall and is interested in the health science LLC which is in tower A. It sounds good on paper - special presentations & opportunities, mcat prep, etc...and he thinks people there will party less (he doesn't party much) than the rest of the towers.

I'm concerned about the lack of "variety" of people with everyone interested in pre-health, and that he might have classes all day with the same people he has to live with all night. I know that could be a positive thing too, for studying, etc...

Has anyone experienced the health science LLC? Are there really better opportunities for pre-meds there? I did a search and came up with very little info.

It looks like it is for upper class. Not for freshmen.
Here is what is in their website:

**
The Health Sciences Living Learning Community is available to all upper-class students planning a career in medicine or other health sciences. Students choosing to live in this community will be provided with enhanced opportunities that will make them more competitive in the medical school application process. Students participating in the Health Sciences Living-Learning Community will have opportunities to:

- attend training presentations related to their medical fields of interest
have access to academic resources that can assist them with their science-related course work
learn about medical school opportunities and participate in MCAT early test preparation programs
l - earn about possible medical research programs and opportunities.

More information about the Health Sciences Living-Learning Community will be available in the early part of the Spring Semester

First of all, if you look more closely at the ‘residence life’ or the ‘living-learning communities’ websites there are actually two health sciences Res. Halls. One for upperclassmen and one for freshmen called 'Freshmen Health Sciences" it is located in Litchfield Towers.

I also would like more info on the Freshmen Health Science Living-Learning Community. So if anyone is currently living there or knows someone living there, please share the pros and cons. Also, would like to know how many freshmen are typically in this group. is it split equally between guys and gals. Do they do fun stuff. Do they mingle well with other Towers inhabitants. Do the other towers inhabitants have any opinions either good or bad about students in this group??? anything else important that I am not considering. thx

I am also going to throw these questions out to my all-knowing friend the “AwesomeOpossum”

I mentioned this in my thread but I believe the freshman health sciences LLC may be new, which is why there isn’t much information on it. When I was living on campus, the only LLCs I knew of for freshman were Engineering and UHC (and possibly nursing).
