I was wondering how important it is to be a part of the LLC for your major as a freshman. I’m planning on applying but not everyone is accepted. Is it a big deal if you end up not getting accepted? Does being part of the LLC have significant benefits when you apply to graduate school to the point where if you were not in an LLC that it will put you at a disadvantage?

No, it might put you in a community of people who have the same interests (at that moment) and may give you some interesting experiences…but it is housing - every dorm will have activities that will be interesting and fun and activities that are not - the LLCs might have some of their activities focused on that special interest.

Thanks. Does anyone know when we will receive notification of whether or not we are accepted to our LLC?

From the Housing part of the PC website:

We generally mail a “notice of assignment” to students in July. This notice will include information on how to go online and view your new assignment and room number, as well as contact information for your roommate(s). The residence halls’ mailing addresses will be included as well.

Since LLCs are filled before regular housing (IIRC) that means you should hear about LLCs in late June or early July. I know when I went to my PittStart (which I think was in mid-July) I already knew my LLC housing assignment, and others already knew their regular ones.

Okay thanks. I’m unsure of what to do about finding a roommate because I did Room Sync but none of the people mentioned that they were intending to be part of the Health Science LLC (which I’m intending to be a part of) and I didn’t want to commit to room with someone that won’t be in the LLC because I think my roommate and I both have to be in the LLC if we are living together. I’m not sure what to do at this point. Should I just wait and be paired up with someone randomly?

Did you post on the Pitt students facebook group? Maybe someone there also wants the same LLC as you. Also try to put as much info in the room sync app to see if you get a better match.
