hear back from ucf summer 2012?

@flseabrz: what are your stats? I can try to give advice? And I did apply for USF, but UCF is my first choice.

Kyle, You had a much betters ACT score. I have a 22, remember? But I will be sure to email them a heart felt email tonight. Originally, I was saving such a thing for if I was rejected, or defered, but right now, I don’t know what will happen. I’ll write up an email, and though I expect no answer to help, maybe the individual who reads it will mention to admission how long I’ve been waiting. I’m just grasping at straws right now, but I need to do whatever I can, and point out positive aspects I can bring…

Just relax. You’ll get in. 22 is still in range for summer remember?

It is, yes. I even remember Mizzi (Another poster, who currently attends UCF) had a 22 ACT score, too. She also had a very high/good GPA, which I can’t fall back on. I’m just going to keep hope that, even if I’m not academically strong, my community service hours show how involved on campus I would be, and how much I adore their school, from my essay. I’ll try and relax, and breath. Shouldn’t be too hard, considering I’m now working almost 30 hours a week, and attending school:/

My gpa wasnt that high. What classes have you taken over the 4 years in HS

My first two years, all normal classes. Normal math, english, languages, sciences, histories. Then there was extra curiculars, like orchestra, which I’ve taken all four years. Junior year, I took my first AP class, which was english. This year, I’m taking three AP classes (AP psychology, AP enviromental science, AP senior english). My school is not much for honors classes, and has been throwing most away. Either you’re in regular classes, or you step up to the AP level. There is no half point (honors) at my school. Besides, honors classes are my school aren’t seen as difficult, because here, they’re the exact same as normal classes, except with ‘harder’ teachers.

Also, in illinois, there is no “IB” programs (What is that, anyway? I’m thinking just a different name for AP?) And no freshmen or sophmores could take AP classes. You could only take them if you’re an upper classmen.

IB is a program which came from Europe. It’s well-known in Florida and people say its hard, but it’s not bad. It’s similar to AP, but I take AP as well. In hoping you have taken and continue to take AP in your junior year and this year?

Yes, I have. Junior year, I took AP english. I could have taken APUSH (AP U.S history) but history was never a strong subject of mine, so I passed on that. Now this year, I’m taken three AP classes. My classes are…

Economics (Which is one semester-a mandatory class to graduate)
AP english (Which I’m loving, currently, and doing very well in.)
Symphonic and chamber orchestra (Chamber, I needed to try out to make it into.)
Pre-cal/trig (Enough said. It was either this, or AP calculus, which my brother is in. He’s a genius in math, and hardly passing AP calc.)
AP Enviromental Science (Suprisingly, this is my hardest class. The tests are so, so difficult, which is weird, considering it’s enviromental science.)
AP Psychology (Loving this class-especially sense my teacher wants me to get into UCF as much as I did. He rejected UCF, to attend UF, and claims he regrets it everyday.)

Those are my classes this year. I help out a bit with cheerleading still, but I’m helping out on the board of directors. I’ve completed another 30 hours of community service, so now it’s up to 700. Then, there’s work, which I’m now considered a manager (I handle the money, open and close the store, etc.)

You have a great chance. Your course rigor is fine. And your in range for summer in all stats and UCF loves ECs

4.1 weighted GPA.
24 ACT
1480 SAT (I know it’s terrible!!)
Lots of EC’s.

I’ll keep hope. I’m going to send them an email tomorrow, and seriously consider what I want to say. It needs to describe how I feel, but be short, and sweet-to the point. Plus, I have a half day tomorrow, which makes me happy:)

@seabrz your in no doubt.

Write: yeah just shoot them an email. They will respond.

For USF? I’m so worried because of my SAT score (it’s really low), but thank you :)

^Kyle’s right, you’re in. They’d be nuts not to let you in, especially with that GPA:) Plus, your ACT is good, too! Be expecting to hear an acceptence very soon!

No, They have not deffered my daughter or anything. It just says they are reviewing her application.

Thanks!! :)

@seabrz: for both UCF and USF you’re in. Which school is your top?

And overcome dont worry how long has the app been in review?

Why not retake SAT again this Saturday ?
You can still pay the late penalty fee, show up and
if the facility has room, then you can take the test.
You also have time for the December test.

David-I don’t take the SAT, I take the ACT. The SAT isn’t a good match for me, because of the scoring against estimated guessing, and I like having that aspect during the test. Plus, it’s 50% math, and I’m awful at math. The only subject, literally, holding back my ACT score is math. I scored a 29 on the reading, and a 27 on the english. Horrible math score, though. I am seriously considering the ACT in december, but I would like to hear back to see if I should even bother. If I end up being rejected, why bothering retaking that ACT, and wasting $80 out of my own pocket, when UCF already rejected me? If I get defered, I will, without a doubt, be retaking it. That’s why I need to hear back-I need to see the measures that need to be taken.
