heard...

this could be complete bs, but heard a rumor that Vandy was doing some sort of "reconsideration" process. anybody seen anything about this on their website or anything like this??

reconsideration regarding what?

Yes, the rumors are true. Vandy recently had a very philosophical adventure and is reconsidering things.

^ lulz

The OP's post is so vague. I have absolutely no idea what he/she is talking about.

I have no idea what you're trying to say... but the reconsideration process is when you whine at them and write a formal letter stating some reason why your application deserves another readover after you get rejected. I still have no idea what you're getting at though...

Very strange post. Perhaps the OP is trying to get you all riled up.

Since Vandy Admissions has been addressing some of these posts lets ask them-

DEAR VANDY ADMISSIONS - WHAT THE HECK IS THIS ALL ABOUT, IF ANYTHING?

You could always try:

"Herbert A. Millington
Chair - Search Committee
412A Clarkson Hall, Whitson University
College Hill, MA 34109

Dear Professor Millington,

Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me an assistant professor position in your department.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Whitson’s outstanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,
Chris L. Jensen"

^ ahahahaha effing brilliant.

sorry guys i know that was totallly vague its just so vague because i dont even know what it was about myself, it was just a rumor that was going around my highschool that vandy had put up something on their site about reconsidering rejected apps. i guess it was just that, a rumor

Well, I can say that in the Vandy Admissions Blog that it says that the do reconsiderations. Check in the comments in the ED I results blog.

But it doesn't sound very promising. I think most universities will accept "appeal letters" but thats not to say they work.

That's my back-up plan if my acceptance letter isn't an "acceptance letter".

HAHA Vandysae thats a good one

Well..

My roommate freshmen year did this very thing, so YES it is possible! She got rejected ED, retook her SATs, her scores went up, she filed for reconsideration and now she goes here. This is not some far removed friend, literally my roommate last year.
