Hearing different things about Arts in your GPA-- what's the final word?

So I'm a bit confused-- my high school does not officially release our GPA, it just gives colleges our transcripts and they calculate it themselves. My counselor told me that in the explanation/guidelines they give attached to the transcript, they "strongly recommend weighting arts classes and academics evenly because of the rigor of the courses".

Do you think colleges actually do this? If my 5 arts credits were factored into my GPA, it would be HUGE for me (push me over the big, scary 3.0 mark)

Have you seen a copy of your transcript? Does your school release rank or decile information?

each college has its own policy on how they recalculate gpas. The colleges will see the note from your high school on the rigor of the arts classes and then choose what to do with your transcript.

At one of the schools we visited, the admissions person said that the school calculated gpa using only the five core academic classes, and on a 4.0 scale, and then assigned a separate score for rigor of curriculum.

Yes, I have-- no class rank, and no AP classes so theres not much weighting to be done
