I am a senior in high school. I just receently decided that i wanted to attend the College of Charleston. I wanted to know, if u apply after EA does it affect your chances of being admitted? I aslo would like to know if i have EVEN a CHANCE at being accepted at College of Charleston here are my stats.

In-state Student

3.37 GPA (COMPETITIVE SCHOOL)

Rank: 24/185

8 Honors Classes, the rest were CP

Extracurricular Activites: Band, JROTC, Student Council, Beta Club, FBLA, Yearbook Committee, FCCLA, Who's Who Among American High School Students, and National Honors Society.

I will enter college with 12 credit hours from college classes that I've taken in high school.

LIFE Scholar (Life Scholarship fo South Carolina Students)

(Heres the part thats TERRIBLE)>>>>> 880 SAT (OLD) (1380 on the new).

Because of my SAT scores will the College still consider my application, or is this a very important section of their admission criteria? I REALLY NEED SOME FEEDBACK! Can anyone tell me, because my heart is set on this school and i know I am capable enough to handle whatever work that this college would give me its just that I am terrible on taking standardized tests.

hey what's up. I applied to C of C EA this year, and had relatively the same stats as you, except my SAT was about 200 points better and they rejected me. They said that this was a banner year of applications for the school. So it up'ed the requirements of the school. I would definitely try to take another SAT or ACT. They blow, but you need it.

I really despise the SAT as an indication of how well a student will perform in college. Your stats look solid to me platinum. I know secondary school records carry more weight than SAT scores, and yours are certainly very good. I wish you the best of luck!!!

well, tennischica, I would like to think the same thing too, because my SAT scores were relatively low too, and I did not get into C of C. They want that SAT score, that's what killed me, I had the same stats pretty much to this guy/girl, in fact my SAT's were higher and I still did not get in.

Thank you all for your feedback. My cousin is a freshman there this year and she said that they are much more lenient for SC students when making admission decisions than out of state students, so hopefully they will not grade me so critically when it comes down to my SAT score.

Also what about the writing. Do colleges use the writing score on the SAT to determine anything. My writing score was VERY well. I scored a 520 on my writing. Does anyone know how they use this score?

She applied mid december and she received her decision on line about a month later, with the acceptance packet arriving about 2 weeks after that. She has a friend who applied earlier but hasn't heard. If you are accepted, they want a housing deposit by April 1st or they can't guarantee you freshman housing. I would get my application in as soon as possible.

I've just been accepted a couple of days ago. Your stats sound good! I've been told that C of C only has housing for about 2,700 of ther 10,000 students. Freshman are guaranteed housing if they pay their tuition deposit and housing deposit by April 1st. But even if their isn't enough space, they have city housing all throughout the town. Hopefully, there will be space for you because your stats are great!

first of all to the first kid who posted, the school has gotten more selective; however, saying you have the life scholarship that means you're an in state student! THe college is more relaxed on accepting instate kids. Your gpa is fine class rank really doesn't matter clubs look good, and if they have a problem with your sat/act score then they might give you a provisional acceptance, which basically means you're accepted into the college, but in order to stay in your freshman year you have to make atleast a 2.0... which shouldn't be hard... and then your sophmore year you will be officially accepted...

to the last kid .. .i don't see why you wouldn't get accepted

my freshman year resident life over booked kids and i ended up in the honors dorm study lounge with 3 other girls till other positions opened up, the only bad thing is freshman can't get parking, but you most likely will get housing

I'll be a freshman fall '06. Just looked into parking off campus. Got a great lot 3 blocks from Berry for $400 a semester and I'm splitting cost with a friend thats going to cofc as well. If anyone wants parking they have to move on it asap because they knocked down a parking garage that everyone used last year and these are filling fast. There is a list of non-college parking sites within cofc website for anyone interested.
