Can you bring a portable thermostatically controlled heater for your room???

Don’t know, but this is first I’ve heard of someone maybe being cold in the dorms, I thought they kept them rather warm.

Speaking of this, when do they turn on the heaters in the dorms?

This for the Gothics

Appliances with immersion coils, water heaters without thermostatic controls, and exposed coils (e.g., space heaters) are prohibited in the residence halls unless provided by SAS Facilities.

from the rules:<a href=“Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Residential Life | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University;

found by going to cornell.edu and using search with dorms and space heaters.

my experience with the Gothics was they are very warm.

Does this mean a space heater without coils and is thermostatically controlled is allowed or no space heaters at all? De Longhi models for example? Housing said heaters not allowed, but the house rules pdf. seems to say otherwise???

Wow really? Its freezing in my dorm.

So, if I understand things:
They haven’t turned the heat on yet in the dorms? That is a problem, I agree, it’s cold up there.

How can you get them to get more heat in the Gothics?

Are there adjustable nobs for the Gothic heaters/radiators to get more heat??? Housing doesn’t seem to know what to do.

Seems to be a bit of a disconnect, per this:

Not sure what’s going on there, but probably this will not be resolved on CC.

To clarify, the heaters have NOT been turned on yet in the dorms. At least not in my dorm. (Risley.)

Just use the dragon.

I used one of those heated blanket/comforters. Not because I didn’t have heat, but because there are few greater pleasures in life than a late night out around town mid-winter with good friends followed by slipping in to the warm cocoon of happy (the blanket, that is) for the rest of the night.

Thank you so much Gomestar. This a good temporary solution!

i tried to use a fan forced heater (very small one) and my fuse tripped…

so i doubt any other heater would work.

if your room has a knob that has numbers on it…turn it up to #5/highest setting. and hope for the best!
