Hedrick Summit Single

I'm an incoming freshman and accepted an offer for a Hedrick Summit Single (suite?).
Weird for me to get a housing offer like that since I'm an incoming freshman and I didn't even request a single (did a double).

Anyway, I tried looking around for how the Hedrick Singles looked like and how they were in general, but I couldn't find anything.

I was just wondering if someone can tell me about it (just in general such as environment and how the rooms are). I heard Hedrick Summit was really far from campus, but hopefully it doesn't affect me too much.

Thanks! :D

Hey bored,

I was in a Summit single this past year. There are five guys and they share a bathroom, a shower, and two sinks. There is also a common area for people to do homework or hang out. The room itself is pretty spacious especially if you compare it to triples, doubles, etc in halls like Dykstra. As for the distance to campus, you get used to it. It isn’t too bad, expect to add only about 5-6 mins extra walking time than those who live in Dykstra/De Neve.

As for the social environment, it really depends on who you get for your suite mates. I was lucky enough to get some very cool and friendly people. We had a great time hanging out. But again, it really depends. I heard some suites can be really quiet.

Hope this helps!

p.s. it seems that more and more freshmen are getting singles because of the hedrick hall renovation. my suite was almost all freshmen.

ah awesome. thanks jason
yeah 5-6 minutes isn’t that bad. sounds like fun thanks!

also, if i remember correctly did a suite room 10 people with 5 on each side or am i just seeing things. i remember seeing some outline of the suite, but it looked weird.

and if it is 10 people, is the whole suite unisex?

It’s 10 people for the entire suite, 5 on each side, unisex for whole suite.

I’d take it, perfect for a freshman (transfers will want to live off campus, I hated it). It’s really expensive, but worth it because of the convenience and food.
