Hedrick Summit

Hi everyone!
My housing offer for next year is Hedrick Summit, Triple, Shared bath. I know this plaza has its benefits, especially because its one of the newer ones, but I've heard that its a long walk to campus and that is kind of a turn off. I am considering submitting a CAR to change to another plaza like Rieber Terrace or De Neve Plaza. But before I do that, I want to hear about the pros and cons of Hedrick Summit and the other two plazas. Would asking to switch be a good move?

I have the same question! I am considering switching (probably will) because I don’t want to have to walk so far to get home, especially not when I’m alone. I would get so bored.

itll be difficult getting into the rieber plazas because most second years already snatched up the rooms. the long walk is a pain (as I live in summit right now) but your floor will be 75% freshmen so youll get to meet a lot of eager people. de neve is also mostly nonfirst years

It’s not that bad actually. Hedrick is only a 20 minute walk from campus. You’ll get used to it.

how long is hedrick from deneve? i heard it was only like 5 mins? is that true? cuz if it is, i won’t bother haha.

I remember when I went to bruin day we ate at hedrick and the walk wasn’t too much from covell… 10 minutes tops (but probably more like 5), and that was just casually strolling. I’m not positive on how far it is from deneve but I can’t imagine it being significantly different.

It’s about 5 minutes away from De Neve for me… obviously depends on your speed and all of that, but honestly, where you live doesn’t dictate your social life – it’s mostly (if not completely) dependent on your attitude :)

i’m not so much worried about the social aspect because summit is apparently filled with freshmen and ive talked to some of them on the fb group and everyone seems really cool. but yea, if its only a 5 mins walk then i would definitely choose summit. bigger/nicer rooms plus its away from all the construction going on haha. thanks for the input guys! :)
