Helen Newberry

I've been trying to get more information on this dorm but have been trouble finding it. What do you think about the Helen Newberry Dorm? My friend stayed at an all girls dorm in another school, and said it was crazy, like a bunch of drama. Does this dorm have all that drama too? I know people have been saying they have really small rooms, and how many freshman usually live there? And do people in this dorm still go to parties? Sorry for a lot of questions, but like i said it seems really unknown when compared to Bursley or another dorm

I love newberry. I lived there my senior year. No drama, way less than I experienced in the co-ed dorms. The rooms are small compared to the other dorms but quite comfortable, and there is a LOT more common room space than in a lot of the other dorms and it’s quiet and comfortable to hang out. You will get to feeling like your dorm is your bedroom and the whole house is your home-- at least, I did. So I never felt cramped. It’s mostly freshmen and sophomores, I’d guess more freshmen than anything else. But the girls there are SUPER friendly and open, and I think really mature too for the most part, so it was nice. And OF COURSE they still go to parties! Big groups of girls all go out together and have fun, guys come over and hang out, it’s really not any different from any other dorm in that respect. I’d just say there are probably fewer dorm parties actually IN newberry, but personally I’d rather go out to the party than have it in my own house, so that was a plus for me.

ETA: PM me if you have any more questions I can answer about Newberry. I think I might be the only regular poster that’s lived there, or one of very few, and I don’t check the umich board very often anymore now that I’ve graduated.

Wow you make it sound so awesome! Now I really want to live there if i get accepted next year!!!
