Got screwed over with second year housing and ended up with a single in either Newberry or Barbour, not sure which one. I was wondering what it’s like living in these dorms?? I’m kinda worried about the all girl thing, I guess I’m kinda worried that a lot of the girls will be more prude and not really people that I’ll make friends with. I know that’s me just stereotyping and I probably shouldn’t be doing that but yeah just wondering what it’s actually like to live in these dorms, especially the social aspect of it!!
That happened to me back in the day, except I ended up in a double! It was fine. Actually a lot more civilized than dorms like South or West Quad. I still hung out with my friends who lived in other dorms, and made some new friends in Newberry. There were no rules about having men in the dorm, so the guy I started dating that year was there a lot. Great location, close to the quad, too.
You lucked into the one of the most convenient dorms on Campus. With a single you’ll have your own space, pretty nice and hard to get on campus. Angell Hall is right across the street, you will hardly need a coat, and every CC building is < 5 min away.
I have a bunch of friends in Newberry who traded north campus housing for their dorms, so they didn’t sign up for the all girls thing. They tend to spend most of their time outside the dorm, but they don’t seem to have any problems with the other girls in the dorm. If you’re a second year and you already have friends, it shouldn’t be so bad.
