<p>Do you feel like prom is a waste of you money?
Everyone gets dressed up, get a limo, goes to some place where all you do is sit, eat, dance and repeat. And it's soo expensive, in my school anyway.
Plus, the cool stuff happens AFTER the prom, where you just party w/friends.
So, what's the point of going? I think it's a waste of money!
Hell, all of you that are going to the prom--why? and all of you that don't: where are you gonna be at?</p>
<p>Most people go to prom to get drunk afterwards- at least that's what people do here. I'm not going to junior prom this year, only my senior year. I think it's pretty stupid in a lot of ways. First, the singles ticket is $50. There are a lot of other things I would rather spend that much money on. Secondly, as forementioned, people just go and party after, thirdly, going without a date makes you look like a moron, and I probably will just have go with my friends. I do like the limo/dinner thing though.</p>

I also like the limo/dinner thing, absolutely--but you know, my school ticket is like $100 and something, I think. I could go with all my friend on a limo, wear whatever I want and not spend like $500 on the outfit, and go to whatever dinner I wish to go to, you know?!
all in all, I think the prom should be an inexpensive thing. Senior are drained by college appl expenses,so the prom costs should not be so outrageous, I got no money for it, and even if I did have the exact amount,I'd rather just chill out w/ my buddies some place--it's cheaper. You could still order the limo to get you around.</p>
<p>sounds pretty good to me. I'm probably only going next year because I can't afford for my parents to think i'm any more of a social outcast than they already think I am. My two sisters (one a college sophomore the other 13) are really popular, and are into these dance things, but it's really not what I like at all. I don't really feel like looking for some expensive dress I'll wear once and never look at again.</p>

Yeah, I thought that same way too: that prom is only once in my life...but a great party w/ your friends at whatever place you want will jbe a good memory just the same...b/c so many of my friends applied for out of state schools, maybe I won't even see them again.</p>
<p>Prom is so much fun! Everyone always looks amazing and its really great seeing everyone dressed up. Afterwards you get drunk and have sex. WHy wouldn't anyone not like prom?</p>
<p>Well if you don't have a date, that takes away more than half the fun. I am also completely void of any talent in the realm of dancing.</p>
<p>Who cares if you can't dance. That never stopped anyone. The people at your high school will mean absolutely nothing to you in a couple months. Who gives a flying... what they think?</p>
<p>If you don't have a date, go with a friend of the opposite sex. Hell, bring your whole group of friends along with you. Why can't you guys act like fools and make lasting memories at prom?</p>
<p>30 years from now, you could look back and say, "yeah, my friends and I didn't have dates and couldn't dance, but we had a helluva time at prom."</p>
<p>But if that's not you or your style, go and throw a party and have fun there dude. The point is to make memories that will last, and I guess you could do that either way.</p>
<p>I'm a terrible dancer too, but it's so much fun dancing with your friends. You just have to lose your self consoius and it'll be fun. Plus I swear I become a better dance if i have few in me. Prom will be one of the last time when your entire grade will be together.</p>

You could dress up, and order a limo--but go someplace else--for a much less price. I have a relly great outfit, but not the kind that you'd wear to the prom exactly, and I don't have any money to buy an expensive dress w/ shoes, do my hair at a salon, etc. So I am planning to get all my friends that are also not going (my school is overcrowded so, no one knows anyone too much--just a couple of good friends) get a limo, that will get us to some place, eat, chill--we could do the same things as at the prom...but it will be soooo much cheaper. Actually, we could do a whole lot more than at the prom, b/c no one will be shy or anything...and we will go where ever WE want to go, and not where the school sends us.</p>

<p>You don't really need to go and get your hair and nails done before the prom. Sure it'f fun but that's the least important thing about prom. If your worried about the costs of a dress, ask one of your friends. I know most of my friends went to prom last year or to other proms and they have dresses. (Obviously no one is going to wear the same dress for two proms in a row lol) Find a friend who is of similar bulit and borrow their dress.</p>
<p>I hear you all about the fun...honestly, if I had a million bucks I'd go..why not? right? but I don't have the money, and I don't feel like saying "hey mom, save up a grand or two"..well, you know what I mean. She asked how much it would cost, and it looks like she wants for me to go, but I feel like I'm sucking the money out of her...don't foget the senior dues!</p>

<p>nooo, I don't work during school time. I had 4 college level courses. No time for a job.</p>

<p>most people lose it way before then here. Junior year is pretty typical to lose your virginity, start pot. Most people do it on prom as well though. It's sort of gross how some people aim to lose their virginity on prom night. Like some goal.</p>
