I do have a nomination (not principle). I have my strong points and my weak points. There is not really much i can do this late in the game other than pray. Tell me what you think (hopefully its good)

It looks good, and as most people will tell you, most applications look good on paper.

Best of luck to you.

Holy Toledo, you look stellar! (Haha, did you catch that? You're from Toledo? :) Ok, I need to stop...that was not even funny.) I'm surprised that you don't already have an appointment, to be honest with you. Your SAT scores are a little low I guess, but still within the median range for incoming cadets, and everything else is fabulous (I have no idea about your CFA because I'm not a guy). I know waiting is really nerve-wracking, but you really do look great on paper and I don't think you have anything to worry about. I'm sure you'll still worry (I think that's what all of us do or did, no matter how fantastic we may be ;)) until you have your appointment in hand, but I sincerely think you're going to be getting it soon. You have absolutely everything the Academy is looking for... academics, leadership, athletics, ECs, community service... everything! The huge wave of appointments is still coming up, as well. Good luck Ben! Let us know how it goes! I look forward to seeing you on I-Day!

Just to finish up redhead89, your CFAs are just fine....all in all to be honest you are well rounded and look great.

Like everyone is told on CC, just be patient.

Look forward to training you in a few months. ;)

Be nice, hornetguy. :-P

redhead-

That was funny.:D

just implying that I think he's in!

thanks guys (and girls) , its always nice to get positive reinforcement outside the normal. Honestly, i dont get the Holy Toledo thing that often, so it is funny to hear from people (that arent from Toledo). Cant waite to hear!

the only thing that we can't judge is how your ALOs letter of rec. was, and how competitive everyone else in your area is (although other slots can be moved). It looks good, but never get your hopes to high. Weird things happen, but i wish you the best of luck. and the praying thing helps too.

Does the competitiveness of the area work for you or against you? I was under the impression that that only matters for the principle nomination. I think i was ranked forth for the Air Force Nomination. My ALO basically told this district is one of the best in Ohio when it comes to getting appointments, so i guess this is a competitive area.

I live in probably the most densely populated district in NJ which is the most densely populated state in the union. My West Point ALO told me that this can hurt because many people apply but it can also help because the school will take the district more seriously. Don't worry about being in a competitive district because, according to the USMA ALO, if you're good enough, even without being the principle nominee the academy will find a way to get you in.

Well, one comment about CW's post. Yes, NJ can be competitive. But interestingly, there is a marge larger percentage of NJ candidates that prefer USNA and USMA, probably because of its proximity to those academies. The AF nomination may be a little easier relative to those two in a state like NJ. At least it definately was in our district one year ago. At Academy night (often run by Congressmen), the AF table was lightly attended relative to the other two, which were so packed it almost got ugly! The reverse is true in Colorado, needless to say.

Morning AFDAD2010 & CWJones411 - where is NJ are ya both? We're in southern (Voorhees/Cherry Hill area) and I agree with your statement that most of the MOC interview'ees were chasing USNA / USMM / WP nominations and that the nom(s) for AF were probably "easier" (at least less kids were asking for them).

Son got a double AF/NA Nom from Congressman and a backup nom from one of the Senators (Laudenberg) so we're now in the waiting game.....

How's your son/daughter enjoying AF so far?

Dknightfam

Well, we're from somerset county, middle of the state. I have to say that as tough as that first year is, my son is immensly proud of what he has already accomplished. Right now the firsties's have gotten their base assignments and as he sees where they're going and what they're doing, he is incredibly happy to be exactly where he is! He has found the academics hard but not impossible, the physical part to be about the same (maybe a little easier; he is in extraordinary shape), and the military part to be about what he expected. I am impressed with how much he knows about the air force, strategy of the war in Iraq and what officers need to know to lead.
He can't wait until Recognition, when life becomes more normal: civie clothes at the end of the day, walking to class, not carrying the bookbags, stairwell freedom, etc. He has a developed a little on the spiritual side, too, which helped him through the tougher parts of beast (AKA Basic). One piece of advice I'll give you right now: AFTER I-DAY, WRITE CONSTANTLY -- AS IN EVERYDAY. We're talking snailmail here NOT email. They won't get computers till after basic. Letters are what keeps them going during Basic, believe me. More on all that later. Other things post-acceptance I guess might be appropriate in a PM since this forum is primarily for those applying to USAFA. Best of luck to you and your son/daughter. You're starting one helluva rollercoaster ride!

Well i got another ACT report back...everything stays the same except science; I got a 29. I also sent an updated transcript to the AFA. Lol its so hard to wait for something you want so bad...I need to think about somethin else haha
