Hello. Looking for information for Graduate studies in US.

My 1st post on the confidential forums. Good to see our own Pakistani forum here.

I'm calling out to all the 'Graduate' students currently studying in USA. I need your help.

But before that a little background info. I'm an electronic engineer and been working for roughly six or seven years now (i'v lost the count already). Got my Bachelors degree in 2005. Although I've been working in a multinational company during this time but my career has not progressed as it should. Not to mention that my current position is not in my own field. I feel that im just floating around, not really getting a move on.

So I've made a decision. I'm going to leave my job. I'm going to give the GRE and TOEFL/IELTS.

and I'm going to apply for a masters in US of A. Big decision for me. Yes i'm scared.

Now, coming to real questions that i have. I know that USA offers excellent engineering education. It has hundreds of thousands of universities and colleges. and that is the problem. I have absolutely NO clue how to choose one. Yes everyone's heard of MIT and Caltech, but they are out of my league. Cant afford em either. I'm looking for a good, quality university that gives quality education without breaking my back.

What are my options. Can some one give me some pointers. some good 2nd or 3rd tier universities that will give all that efforts worth ?

and secondly, after 7 years hiatus from studies, how difficult will it be for me to jump in to studies again ? anyone with similar experience ?

If you have read this far. Thanks for your time.
I will be happy to see any little bit of info / advice / help anyone has to offer.

Cheers.
