Okay just to get in to more details.
I’m currently a freshmen and I’m wondering what schedule I should take when I become a sophomore?
1 Algebra 1 (93%)
2 Biology 1 (89% damn 20% because I’d don’t know I had to study the summer homework, my grade could’ve been
a 98%)
3 English 1 (97%)
4 Digital tech (94%)
5 HOPE (97%)
6 Team sports (100%)
I know I know simple classes nothing special. That’s when when I’m a sophomore I’m considering taking 2–3 Honor classes and when i get to Junior 1–2 AP classes and the rest is honors. I’m definitely trying to challenge myself because colleges look at the difficulty in your class! So here are my classes that I’m thinking off, (Definitely may change)
1 English 2 Honors
2 World History Honors
3 Algebra 2 honors
4 Chemistry honors
5 Spanish 1
6 Team Sports
Okay, any suggestions or tips for me would be great! Just a heads up I really wanted to take AP Biology and AP English, but that is only for Juniors and up. I have heard so many people say AP World History is a killer so I’m gonna relax on and take it when I become older. Also AP Spanish is only allowed if you complete Spanish 1,2,3. (Should I take chemistry honors or just chemistry because I heard It is very hard and I need a breather sometimes in high school) Anyways thank you for reading please give me your thoughts on this and what you would’ve done.
I’m a current sophomore and I am taking
AP world, APbio, AP Spanish, Honors chem, Honors algebra 2, Honors English 2, and principles of health science.
I have a quick question: don’t you have to take geometry? You have algebra 1 this year and then algebra 2 next school year but there is no geometry.
I think you should take AP world history because it is fairly easy in my opinion (I have a 100 average so far) all you really have to do is make sure you do the assigned reading and practice MCQs. Also, Honors chem isn’t that difficult either (another easy 100) All I have to do for that class is one page of homework based on notes every other day and it’s not too bad. Otherwise, your schedule looks okay to me.
What sort of colleges are you aiming for?
Your sophomore schedule is good. I added possible options for jr/sr year
1 English 2 Honors => AP English Language => AICE or Dual Enrollment English or Philosophy
2 World History Honors => APUSH or AICE US History or US History Honors
3 Algebra 2 honors => Have you taken Geometry? If not, take it. If you did take it already, Precalculus or Precalculus Honors. Then the next class in the sequence (precalculus or calculus; if you’re aiming for arts or humanities, AP Stats).
4 Chemistry honors=> Physics or Physics Honors => any science of your choice, preferably AP or AICE
5 Spanish 1=> Spanish 2 (H) => Spanish 3 (H)
6 Team Sports
@itachasuke Just because it’s an “easy 100 for you” doesn’t mean you should assume it’ll be for others.
Your schedule looks good! At my school, people take Algebra 2 before Geometry so there’s no problem with that. Don’t rush AP classes, here the only one you can take as a sophomore is AP Psychology. I’m taking Spanish 3, Honors World History, Honors Chemistry, Health/Intro to CS, AP Psych, Pre-Calculus, and Honors English 10. All class difficulties depend on what your teacher is like- I have an easier Honors Chem teacher than the other H. Chem teachers here. If you wanna take my anecdote, I’ll say I haven’t struggled in chem but it can be a little time consuming.
Thank you! For sophomore year I definitely wanna challenge myself because for my freshmen year I havent really been trying and I have a 3.9 gpa
I have changed my schedule!
Sophomore:
AP World History
Chemistry honors
Geometry Honors (You can not take algebra 2 before geometry)
English 2 honors
Spanish 1 (I’m not sure if I should take it my junior year or sophomore because I really don’t wanna learn Spanish. I speak Chinese and English so.)
Team Sports
Junior:
AP English language
AP Biology
AP American History
Algebra 2 Honors
Medical Electives (I’m trying to become a doctor, getting a hands on first hand would definitely help later on)
Team Sports (Love basketball and I need to have fun in school)
(Still 2 years in the future I’m thinking at least 2-3 would change)
Senior:
AP English Literature
AP Chemistry
AP Statistics
AP Government and Politics
Spanish 2
Team Sports
(This is 3 years in the future I’m pretty sure for the senior list a tleast 4 of them will be changed.)
I’m just really scared because I never been challenged before! I’m studying right now but like I take my time because I have little things to study.
Most colleges will want 3 years/Level 3 of a foreign language. 2) Depending on what you major in, it probably would be better to take pre-Calc as a senior rather than AP Stats. Finally, some schools require an Arts class such as Art or Music. If there is a Period 0 option at your school you may want to move you Sports class to that period and fit an extra class in.
