Help a Belgian student.

Hello,

I'm a Belgian student and lately I'm considering applying for a good (or very good) American university. However, it's very hard to guess my chances because we don't work with GPA and the likes over here.

I'll give my resume in short (it's a peculiar one):

I've started my undergraduate studies with horrible grades (every year just getting through and had to do my second year twice), then I found the love for the study.
I took besides economics also communocational sciences. Now, in my last year I'll probably receive 'greatest distinction with congratulations from the jury' in economics (nr. 1 of my year) and great distinction in my other field.
Besides that I have numerous extra-curricular activities (organising charity events, music, sports, attending seminars etc.) and I speak 5 languages (however my English could be a lot better).
I'm planning a master in econometrics next year and preparing to apply for a graduate school in the States, is this realistic?? Especially since a started of as a louzy student with low grades.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I'm not sure exactly how it works with graduate schools, but I know with undergraduate schools, a lot of times showing big improvement (especially culminating in very good grades) can be better than having the same good grades all the time...

Hi,

Is it possible that you ask some of your friends on the net to reply to my post. Since our schoolsystem is quite different from the one in the states it's very difficult to compare myself with the grades that er being posted on this site.

I truly appreciate all the comments,
