I will be a sophomore next week. I started to prepare for the SAT this summer. In the beginning of July I took a practice test and got a 1670. Approximately 3 weeks later I took another practice test and got a 1860. Today I took my latest practice test and got a 1840. I have been studying two hours every night in between taking these practice tests. What more could I possibly do to get a 2250 by the end of my junior year? I will do anything it takes.
Thank you, I really appreciate any help I can get.

Can you elaborate? maybe there’s a malfunction in the way you’re preparing for the SAT. Have you read silverturtle and xiggi’s SAT guides? If not, you definitely should. They’ve helped a lot of people, and its straightforward/easy to grasp advice

I’m reading the Barron’s Writing Workbook and doing the excersizes. It appears to be helping significantly. However, the Barron’s Critical Reading Workbook has not helped me much at all. I’ve taken three of the passage-based practice tests (in the Barron’s Reading wkbk). The questions on the tests are broad and the answer choices aren’t very specific. I’ve memorized 310 vocabulary words so far.
For the math section I’ve just been going over the questions I get wrong on the practice tests and taking notes. I have a math workbook, but I find it difficult to understand.
Everyday I go over questions or take practice tests. I feel that I should have a firm understanding of the types and wording of the math and critical reading questions before I dive headfirst into the practice tests. If you could recommend the best math and critical reading books I would really appreciate it! As you can tell, I’m very paranoid that I’m not studying correctly haha! If you could also tell me how long you study/studied a day, I’d be really thankful!
I also want to say that I deeply admire everyone on CC. You are all my role models, and any advice that I can get from such brilliant students is treasured. :)

Direct hits core vocabulary, the ultimate guide to sat grammar, and PWN the SAT math guide. Also, learn root words for the CR part, it helped me a lot with the vocab and words I don’t understand.[SAT: 238 Root Words flashcards | Quizlet](http://quizlet.com/138919/sat-238-root-words-flash-cards/)
