OK so I got accepted to Spring 2011 as a Transfer student, but sadly I am not able to attend due to family obligations. I have now decided that I still want to transfer out to UT but I do not know whether to transfer in the Summer or the Fall (2011). Does anyone have any suggestions?

My personal opinion is that Summer 2011 admissions might be easier simply because of the lack of people applying. Another plus is that I can get an idea of how courses in the fall will be structured and get familiar with my surroundings and such..you know...6th street ;) however the downside of this is that I might be getting an internship/job in Houston in the summer and I would have to refuse that opportunity if I transfer in the summer.

Also, I know that this is contingent with my acceptance but I hope that I do get in. Applying to Cockrell, with a ~ 3.7 GPA and about 60 hours. Chances?

Please give me any insight as to what you guys think is best! Any ideas/ suggestions are welcome!

Yeah I agree, the problem is that an internship is not guaranteed. And by the time I find out, the deadline for admissions will have been passed.

Are you at a community college right now? And you were accepted in the spring for engineering correct? Because I know someone who got accepted in spring, was accepted - declined it for some financial reasons, and then applied for the fall and got in from cc. Only difference was he had a 3.83 GPA

I read somewhere here that for Spring 2011 transfer admissions, admissions was rolling. That isn’t true for Fall 2011 applications, right? Because the way I understand it, you need 30 hours of credit (at least for engineering) and given that fact they won’t consider you until you turn in proof of at least 30 successfully completed hours.

While I’m here, I think I’ll give my chances thing a shot…
