Hey guys, well I'm hoping to apply for Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 but my grades are very poor. I currently go to the University of Houston and I'm a sophomore right now. My freshman year was very rough for me because of surgery and family problems. But still those are not good excuses for my poor GPA. Well please don't bash me guys, but my GPA is a 2.09 right now. But I plan on retaking all the science classes I did poor in. I've made a lot of strides to do well this semester. This semester I should finish with about a 3.7-4.0 raising my GPA to around a 2.6. I know, that is still low but if I keep this pace my GPA should be a little above a 3.0 when I finish my Spring 2011 semester. I also have done 12 hours in Lone Star Community College the past two summers and I have a 4.0. Well my question is if I apply to UT for Fall 2011, will they instantly reject me for my low GPA I have from my freshman year or will they wait to look how well I finish my semester of Spring 2011? Should I wait to apply after this Fall semester to show that I really am determined to bring up my GPA and I would be committed to UT? Thank you guys for any help!

Honestly, it’s not looking good. If U of H allows you to take over all of those classes to get higher grades, do it. If they don’t, well, it’s only your undergrad.
