help a writing major find scholarships

Hi! I’m a senior at a high school in Connecticut, and I’m looking for some written scholarship opportunities. I’ve applied to 6 colleges, and gotten into 5 so far (the final one doesn’t send out acceptances until March).
I’m interested in majoring in English, and minoring in Creative Writing. Because of this, I think the best possible scholarships for me would be ones that include some sort of creative writing.
I need to act fast, because I know a lot of the deadlines for the good scholarships have passed already.
Thank you!!!

Have you thought about speech pathology? Look for scholarships online. There are so many there.

Susquehanna gives generous scholarships to students.

There were some local scholarships in our area that were awarded based on an essay contest - Elks, the DAR, American Legion. They may have had other qualifications too like financial need, but basically they were essay contests. A big limitation was that most had to be used in-state.

A few questions…

Have you applied for financial aid?

Are the schools you have been accepted to affordable without getting outside scholarships? If you are awarded any outside scholarships and you have applied for/received FA, you must report the outside scholarships to your school(s) and then the FA award is typically reduced (schools vary in how they reduce awards, some start by eliminating work-study and loans, for example).

When looking for scholarships, they tend to be competitive, so you may need to cast a wider net than just creative writing. Many scholarships are only one-time, so plan accordingly.

Good luck.
