Do BA/MD programs look to see if you have taken the AP test, if you took the class?

Take the test for sure. If you bomb it, you bomb it. If you don't take it, they might assume you bombed it and just canceled or withheld your score. In my view, the only good way to go would be to study really hard and take the AP Tests. Also, the biggest thing you could do to improve your chances is raise your GPA. Depending on the number of weighted classes you took and the way your school weights grades, you really need to get higher than a 3.8 weighted.

Currently I have a 4.1 entering my Junior year. I am taking both AP Stats and Bio. I want to self study another AP, but I'm scared I won't get get a 5 on both if I add another AP. Last year I took AP Euro and got a 1 on the test. The teacher didn't prepare us well, and it totally screwed with my confidence.

Do not rely on somebody (even if it is a teacher) to prepare you. Study even if you feel that you are prepared well. Number of AP classes indicate that you are looking for academic challenge. Another factor: you will compete with the group of people ALL of whom will have tons of APs and SAT IIs with very high scores. Without taking APs you will not be competitve enough. Your GPA got to go up also. Unweighted, I believe, is more important than weighted. Different schools weigh grades differently, so there is a notion that colleges strip them back to unweighted and take into consideration challenging curriculum instead (number of APs, Honors, etc.). Good luck!

Thanks Miami! With receiving the 1, it sure taught me to be self- reliant and study better. I'm looking for my GPA to rise with both Bio and Stats. We will have to wait and see in a month or so if I can self-study a class.
