HELLO! So I have taken the SAT and am taking the ACT in september. My SAT was not so hot (superscore of 1410) so I’m hoping I do well on the ACT. Is it bad if i send colleges both scores, even if they differ or are the same? If my ACT score is better I might send it to all my schools where my SAT score doesn’t meet the averages.
Also problem, through all the free score reports I received from taking SAT I and II, I basically sent my official SAT scores to half the colleges on my list… would it be bad to send them my ACT scores too, especially if the ACT ones are better than SAT?
sorry wrote so much lol thanks!
Most colleges allow to to send either/or, so it’s up to you and probably depends on what you get on your ACT. I think the ACT score that corresponds to a 1410 SAT is about a 29 or so. So if you get significantly above a 29 on the ACT, then you should definitely choose the ACT over the SAT, and vice versa if you score significantly lower than a 29. If they are about the same on a concordance table (google SAT ACT concordance/conversion table) then choose one or the other or send both.
For those schools that you already sent your SAT’s to, yes, you should also send your ACT if it is a higher score on the concordance table - you want your schools to see what you are capable of, so sending a higher score is fine.
My kid took two SAT’s and scored 100 points higher on the math section for the first one, and scored 100 points higher on the English for the second with basically the same composite score on both. Then her two ACT scores were just one point apart and they corresponded almost exactly with her SAT scores on a ACT/SAT conversion table . So she just sent both her SATs to show that she could score well on Math and English (just not during the same test) and sent the highest ACT to show that it was consistent with her SAT score.
What you should hope for is that one is obviously a higher score then you can just make it easy and just send your best one and save some money.
