I got 1370 on the SAT and a 29 on the ACT. I looked at concordance tables and I got a lot of different answers (but overall they are about the same value). I think for schools that recommend SAT subject tests w/ SAT but don’t expect them with the ACT, I will send my ACT scores. Does this make sense or am I going about this all wrong?
That makes sense. I would send the ACT if you haven’t taken SAT II and the ACT meets the school’s testing recommendation/requirements or you can send both if you want.
If the concordance tables indicate the scores are potentially anywhere close to each other, send both. The college will then use that test it believes is actually the higher for determining admission. In other words, don’t try to guess whether one score is better than the other because you may be guessing wrong, e.g., the math on one test may actually be bettrer than the math on the other and the college program you are seeking might evaluate the math as more important.
