Upward trend will help quite alot. If possible, take a prep course and get those scores up a bit. The money will be well spent as you may get some merit money for colleges that will make the course fee look insignificant. If that’s not in the cards, study on your own with one of those prep books.

How about some Pennsylvania schools like Lafayette, Dickinson, Gettysburg, Ursinus? Or Maryland? Loyola of Maryland in Baltimore might be pretty sweet.

Look at Liberal Arts Colleges

First of all, congratulations on your history scores. Did you study for those tests specifically? I ask, because perhaps you should consider studying for the SAT or ACT and retaking? Other people can correct me if I am wrong, but I think your subject test scores show an aptitude that is not reflected by your SAT/ACT scores. Perhaps additional preparation will prove beneficial.

D’Youville College (you would get in w/a scholarship–>25% off tuition and 50% off room and board, easy!)

SUNY New Paltz

Howard University (an HBCU if that’s important to you)

Le Moyne College (it’s more like $35,000/year, but you would get a scholarship which would make a dent in that)

Um…that’s what I can think of right now. It’s early and my brain isn’t completely working yet.

But I was similar (AA, 2.97 GPA, 23 ACT, multiple ECs) and I got into all the schools I listed with the scholarships I listed, except New Paltz as I didn’t even apply there (they don’t have my program) .
