Hi all, new member here. I'm hoping I might be able to get some feedback regarding a major. Obviously I have to make the decision but I'd love to see some insight or thoughts from others out there.

I'm in my late twenties and decided to go back to school a few terms ago since I have always wanted to complete a B.S. I recently got accepted into Oregon State (go beavs!). I received an associates degree about 6 years ago in information technology and have been self-employed the past 5 years doing web development.

Problem is I have grown very bored of sitting on a computer everyday and feel like I might go crazy. I really love spending as much time as I can outdoors and want to get involved with environmental issues and earth science. Even better if I could pair those things with technology.

I've narrowed my options down to the following:

B.S in Natural Resources
Emphasis: Geosciences
Minor: Computer Science

B.S in Computer Science,
Emphasis: Software Systems for Sustainability
Minor: Environmental Geosciences

I do love computers and programming and am roughly half way through the minor at the moment. However, I'm leaning towards the natural resources option since it's a new field and would open me up to multiple fields. The CS degree would just open up more jobs in the field I'm currently in and I really, really hate cubicle jobs. But it's hard to think of leaving the engineering school for something else since everyone seems to say that tech/engineering is where to be.

Anyone have experience in either field? Insight into what route might be the best? I've got one more term left of courses that would work for either option but then it's time to make a decision.

All the best!
