Help and advice needed on midyear grades

I am a high school senior and just got my midyear report. Among the 5 classes I took for the 1st semester, I had 3 B+ (the other two are A and A+). My three B+ classes are multi-variable calculus, AP chemistry and AP US Government and Policy. I had all of them in A- until the final exams which I screwed up and did horribly.

Unfortunately I applied to several Ivy or Ivy like colleges, including Harvard, Yale, Brown, Duke, Williams, and Northwestern. Will my midyear grades screw up my chances? For the past three years I only had three B+ which were all in AP, but I got another three B+ just in first semester of senior year. I am devastated. I will try very hard not to get another B or B+ in the 2nd semester.

Has anyone who got 6 B+ ever made into Ivy league or Ivy like colleges?

I have solid SAT score, good essays, superior recommendations and competitive ECs etc. I am just afraid my midyear grades are not good enough and will screw me up that I will see all the rejection letters in April.

Help and advice please... Thank you for your advice.

Do you have a rolling decision or EA admittance at a school you are willing to attend?

It might hinder your chances for some but it certainly won’t crush your chances for any of them. Mid-year grades are to help them get the most up to date sense of your grades and your grade trends. Since B+ in AP classes seems to be your trend, even if you had pulled out an A- this semester, it probably would not have significantly altered their perception of your transcript.

So while you’re definitely not in a better position for admissions, I don’t really think you’re much worse off than you were when you sent in your applications. And I certainly don’t think you’ll see all rejection letters.
