Focus on raisng either the SAT or ACT score.

Your scores are telling you something- you need to improve in reading and writing. Taking a lot of science AP next year is not going to change your skills in that area. English AP, Gov’t AP and Psych(somewhat) should include lots of writing and reading. Try to focus your efforts on these classes and do as best as you can, really push yourself in this area. Practice does help to improve your SAT scores, and think of how nice it will be to be able to write better and read with more understanding. These are great skills to have for college. If it means taking one or two less science or math AP classes, then do so.

Hi bobby,

Your grades are decent at a 4.12 W (I’m guessing out of 4.3), and by taking 15 APs by the time you graduate you are likely making the most of what your HS has to offer academically. Your test scores aren’t bad … they are decent, but your reading scores are a tad low for my liking. Basically, I would recommend you to spend more time focusing in English class – improving your reading and writing skills – and to read more outside of class. Check a book out from the library or read the news on-line. Anything will help as long as you read something. Your ECs are good as well, but nothing too special.

That said, chances:
Cornell/Duke/WUSTL/Duke: Slight reach
USC/CMU/NYU: Match (NYU Stern –> Slight reach)
UT: Safety match
BC: Not too familiar with admissions here

UChicago: No chance rating because your essays will matter

I assume since CMU is in bold that’s your first choice? If you are applying ED to CMU, I think you will make it. Other than your SAT scores, everything on your profile seems very strong. Good luck! Just a side note: Are there 1000 seniors in your class?
