HELP. Apparently passed a deadline..

So I got accepted to UT and recieved my letter approx. around April 19th-20th, with the letter being sent April 15th. I got another letter sent April 18th that I probably recieved around April 22nd-23rd, stating the steps to submit my "yes" to admission technically. I haven't done so yet...for there was nothing on the letter of a deadline whatsoever. I got a letter sent May 10th and recieved it May 14th. It said that my Offer of Admission had been WITHDRAWN because I missed the enrolllment deposit deadline...They said I could appeal and explain why I hadn't but I got really annoyed because there was no deadline on any of the letters and even though I know I can't take forever to make a decision, there legitametly was NO DEADLINE DATE so I honestly was not aware. And now I have to go through the stress of finding out whether I'm in again or not.

So question, if anyone else has gone through this and got accepted again right away?

IMO, you have to live in a bubble to not know the college acceptance deadline across the country is May 1. Also on your bealonghorn account, (at least on every student my D is in contact with) it clearly states that this deposit is due on May 1.

Okay, then I live in a bubble. None of my direct family has gone to college in the U.S., so they are just as oblivious to the college process as I am. But thanks, I suppose. For the oblivious and unaware, it would have been nice to spare some ink to add the deadline date onto the letter. >.<

From past posts, it appears you were accepted as a transfer with two years of college under your belt. It’s long past the time in your life when you can complain you weren’t spoon fed. The May 1 response deadline is all over the Be A Longhorn site and, as the other poster said, in your online admission account. There is no excuse for missing it.

Have you called Admissions to get their advice?

If it’s appeal, ask for tips, do it immediately and don’t offer any excuses except, “I made a mistake and missed the May 1 deadline.” State what lesson you’ve learned from this and how that wisdom will serve you well as a Longhorn.

You managed to persuade them to accept you, so you must be doing most things right!

Good luck.

I was not trying to be harsh, but certainly you are educated enough to be able to read your bealonghorn page if you are educated enough to gain admittance to UT. It has always rubbed me a bit wrong that students who were bright enough to get into UT can’t figure out how to read the very first page of their account page. I hope they give another chance because it would certainly be a sucky way to end it, but they are not obligated too as they more than likey went to their waitlist after May 1, 2011.

I sent an appeal letter about last Wednesday and got reinstated today. However, it might have to do with the fact that I’m in BHP and Plan II.

college- No, that’s fine. I like blatantness, I’m just trying to explain back that I honestly was not aware and thought I had no way of knowing. I checked the online as well and saw that after May 1st, it was nonrefundable. I did not know that automatically meant it was a deadline? Also, there is no correlation between book smarts and common sense. I’ve met some brillant book-smart people who could not in the least know how to do stuff that everyone referred to as common knowledge. I just fit in that category for this mistake. :P

Either way, I got reinstated today as well. I was just stressing out. Thanks though.

Genrawks…

I am truly happy you got your reinstatement. It certainly was a smart decision on UT’s part. I get the common sense thing. This from a mom who has a daughter that can clone DNA but can’t use a microwave with much success…lol.

Three cheers from me, too!
