i think it's just there has only been critism, not really anything constructive or helpful...just critism.
it's true the ivy league schools look at the SAT and it can make or break whether you get in, but honestly it's more than just the SAT
with her resume she does have a chance, maybe not harvard material, but it's not like they are just going to not even consider her at all

Hello, duh i have safety schools!
and pollocampero6060 whoever you are, apparently your in 9th grade telling me my best chances are at a "community college" omg that made me laugh so hard! thanks for the efforts wise little one! let me know when you get accepted to anything worth a crap!
and for you other ppl, its so interesting that your profiles are empty, trust me you've all given me a laugh! AND boosted my ego, thanks ppl, i mean it sincerely! hilarious! i have yet to find ONE interesting person with a 2300!

Excuse me while i continue with my cultural experiences...

Adieu

"thanks for the efforts wise little one! let me know when you get accepted to anything worth a crap!

Excuse me while i continue with my cultural experiences..."

That's exactly what I'm talking about.

no, thats what I'M talking about...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

you guys must be pretty bored at this point, as for me, this is pretty funny!

Obviously I'm bored. It's winter break, it's 1:00 in the afternoon, and I'm in my pajamas. That's why I'm posting on this ridiculous thread.

All i am saying is that for you to come on here, ask for your chances at some of the best schools in the country, and then get *****y when things don't go your way is kind of pathetic. You just seem to be incredibly pretentious, without anything to back it up...I'm not even the one saying that you have no shot at the Ivies, maybe an Adcom might be impressed by your fluency in foreign language, which might make up for your SAT scores. But I hope you don't interview at any of these schools, because if you are anywhere remotely similar in person to you online, then they will see you as an insecure, pretentious, and overly defensive punk.

wow such harsh words!!! how can anyone on hear not sound like a an overly defensive punk when people just like to tear and rip at them
and besides
pretentious? if you work hard at being good at something then well most people on here are pretentious
besides take into account the stress from all the insecurities of being told you're not good enough if you don't have this score for college and everything else doesn't matter
who wouldn't act *****y?!

well believe it or not, if i heard of an individual as myself on here i'd probably think i'm being really overconfident, but since in real life i am a really down to earth person (even if i'm being showered with compliments from every corner ) -- i know my limits, i know my strengths and weaknesses. I also know that my application is incredibly competitive, and once again if i don't get accepted into Princeton or Columbia, i'll get over it---what i also KNOW is that i'm not the only one who knows that my resume is competitive, so nice try at trying to tear down my self-esteem--i'm really not buying it, im still applying and i'm still competition for all you underachievers. Once again, if colleges dont accept me because of my SATs then they cant see that i'm a cultured and talented individual. Don't you think thats a fair thing to say when you think about it?? i'm not gonna post my lifestory online, although i guarantee you it is fascinating to say the least. Ivy Leagues are just my top choices obviously, i'm still applying to other places (where theres more undergraduate focus, and where the students arent being taught by the assistants when the actual professors are off accepting nobel prizes 85% of the time)

That's all well and good sister, except for I don't believe you for a second when you say "i am a really down to earth person" when you follow it with:
(even if i'm being showered with compliments from every corner )
"I also know that my application is incredibly competitive"
"what i also KNOW is that i'm not the only one who knows that my resume is competitive,"
"then they cant see that i'm a cultured and talented individual."
" although i guarantee you it is fascinating to say the least."

Sorry, but that doesn't exactly scream humility to me. Look, good luck with your schools, I'll be happy for you if you get in. I just wouldn't get your hopes up.

you have quite impressive ECs, I'd say they are good enough for IV competition. the fact that you speak four language fluently is also amazing.

HOWEVER, you have very slim to none chances at princeton and columbia given your sat scores. very few people get in these two schools with sat < 1900, and they are mostly hooked applicants and recruited athletes. i'm sure you are a talented and culturally diverse individual, as reflected in your ec and traveling experience. but your sat score will hurt you. badly. do apply, just don't assume u'll get in.

aaaaawe thanks aren't you sweet spaceball. I put all that in to make a very sarcastic point, and plus since we are on a website where we're trying to get our odds on getting into top colleges, aren't we supposed to be blunt? i don't go around saying things like that in every day conversation ...

and thanks "letmepass" that was some pretty decent feedback, i don't expect to get in, it would just be nice and rewarding :)

Also, just out of curiosity, how did you get a 700 on the spanish SAT II when you are "fluent" in 4 languages?(I would assume one of those languages is spanish...)

Spanish is my fifth language actually. I speak Swedish, Arabic, English, and French as well--told you i'm cultured (wink!)

hah, welll, then why didn't you take the french one?

I only ask this because it would seem that if you wanted to drive home the foreign language bit(which I would, if I were you), I would take take as many standardized tests in those languages to prove it.

Well aren't you quick! I'm actually taking it at the end of January, i forgot to sign up for the December SAT, and our testing center was full when i tried to do a walk-in. I took Bio and Spanish on the same day, and didnt feel like taking a third subject test on the same day (especially another language), so i thought i'd wait.

Not all of us have the opportunity to be "cultured." We make do with what we have locally. Your SAT's prove you are not that smart. ANYONE can work on culturally based EC's, which is why you won't get into a good college (like me). There will be hundreds of people with the same stats as you applying....except they will have SAT's at least 300-400 points higher. So yeah, stay up there on that lofty cloud of yours!

Your class rank is pretty good and so are your E/Cs. Your SAT and SATIIs are a bit low for the level you are aiming for. To top it off, you are not URM and international. I think you have an OK chance.

Yeah, people don't like chance threads...one of the reason's they are mean as hell. I wouldn't advise you to take part in online squabbles. Also, don't be overconfident and assume that other people on this site have worse stats than you. They are probably more qualified given that the average SAT on CC is probably 2000+.

You're extracurriculars are pretty good but your scores, in my opinion, are very low for Princeton and Columbia. Those two colleges are among the best in the country and you need more than just Clubs And Ec's. You need a really good Grade point average, good sat scores, good sat IIs, good recs, good essays and good everything else. Most importantly, show passion for what you like to do.

SAT's,GPA,EC's,everything, not good enough for Ivy school.

apply to community college

wow so sophNJ how good are your SATs, gpa, ecs and everything?
mine weren't good enough for ivy school no doubt about that, but i don't think university of oregon is just some community college

this whole thread is a complete disaster. one party, the original poster, can't get over the fact that she is simply not qualified for a top ivy league school and the other, basically everyone else, can't seem to say something constructive. my advice would be to apply to schools that you know you can get into in the event that princeton, columbia, etc don't work out. additionally, be optimistic and humble at the same time about your future.
