My daughter is a Junior at a US boarding school that does not offer LD support. Unfortunately she was only diagnosed as a sophomore. She struggles with ADHD/Inattentive type and Executive Function Disorder.

I have tried working with school by bringing in an outside tutor but things are going from bad to worse. She is constantly criticized and blamed for behavior that she obviously needs help with and her self confidence is suffering as a result.

My girl is bright and articulate and does not need to be in an environment for the behaviorally challenged. She does however need a supportive atmosphere that will teach her the skills that she is missing to prepare her for college.

I would appreciate any information that students or parents can share about schools that focus on LD where she can either repeat Junior year or go in as a Senior in the Fall of 2013. Prefer the NorthEast if at all possible.

Thanks for your input!

Take a look at [Boarding School Review - College-Prep & Jr. Boarding Schools | BoardingSchoolReview.com](http://www.boardingschoolreview.com) and search based on ADHD criteria. You will see a lot of schools listed. Call and speak with the Principal and visit to make sure there is a fit. I would also recommend that she be tested by an independent school psychologist to see if there are more issues unknown besides ADD, etc. Good luck.

I would also post this to the Prep School Parents board. I know there have been threads on LDs and boarding schools before.

MamaBear13 – Up here in New England New Hampton School is an option. We have the International Baccalaureate (https://www.newhampton.org/IB), a curriculum that offers the the necessary rigor for college prep, but we also have a robust Academic Support Program https://www.newhampton.org/ASP that will be moving into a spacious new space in September 2014. The program serves a diversity of learners, utilizes technology, and is a scheduled class for each 1:1 tutorial. NHS also has a 1:1 iPad Program that brings a lot of educators from other schools to campus to learn about tech integration. https://www.newhampton.org/iPad New Hampton was named an Apple Distinguished School for the iPad program.
