i received a lot of financial aid from the school... i received Duke U scholarship, federal pell grant, federal seog grant, duke university grant, miscellaneous scholarhips... work study.. and of course loans... and it gave a family contribution amount... when i opened up the bursal bill though.. it amounted to WAYYYY more probably like 7,000 more than was expected!! what happened??? i was analyzing it carefully and it had all these fees which was supposed to be included in my fanancial aid packet because of the amount of scholarship i recieved... the bursar bill only included two things the duke U grant and the duke U scholarship... WHAT HAPPENED? does anyone know?

uh. just call, i think they are readjusting it and stuff still. my thing changed before my eyes as I refreshed lol

i really hope so..

They didnt factor in Stafford and Perkins Loans yet if that helps

Yea i was scared too, but Duke 25 is right. They did not factor in the loans in your bill. I freaked out for a second, but it is all good and it will work out!

my grant hasnt even been transferred.. I dont understand?

Did you sign and return your financial aid notification?

yea I did.. I did that back in january when I got the ED acceptance package.. under anticipated aid it has it listed.

Same here. They're still fixing it, though. I frantically called after seeing $20,000 due-I about had a heart attack. :)

thanks!! glad to know

i looked at the anticipated aid and duke25 was right.. they didn't calculate the loans and the other grants that im receiving.. but when are they planning on including those in the bursar bill?

The loans are included 30 days after the start of classes according to the financial aid office.

So when is all this money due? Bc our bill is for like, 20,000 and we're definitely not paying all that.

it says on the bill that u subtract the grants and loans from the total amount, and then pay the result.. the check is due august 1.. i believe

There's a tuition management service available where you pay your tuition in incriments over the semester. It costs 90 bucks to set up I think

hey uh...how much is the total tuition bill for someone in a non-AC room, disregarding scholarships, fin. aid, or grants?

I'm wondering because I got my single semester tuition bill, but some of the costs cover the entire year, not just a semester.

that doesn't sound right.. are you sure its for the entire year and not this semester? because if you're right you should definitely call them and let them know.. unless you were originally supposed to pay for the entire year.. can you even do that?

wait, so another potentially dumb question. I'm set up on the tuition management thing, and it already subtracted our first payment from that balance, but I mean, obviously we're paying it over time, so is anything going to reflect that?

It'll go down in incriments over the course of the semester when they get your tuition management deposit.

By the way for last year the Perkins Loan appeared on 8/13 and the Stafford Loan appeared on 9/24.

alright, so that's another thing we just subtract. Financial aid and money makes no sense to me. Everyones thinking "how did this girl get in."
