Help! Can I submit TWO additional essays?

I'm just wondering how many essays I can submit in total on Harvard supplement. I think I read somewhere on the forum that we can submit 3-4 essays in total to Harvard including the Common Application essay. So does that mean we don't have to submit only one essay on the supplement? Thanks, guys.

bump…anyone?

If I remember correctly I think that was a joke. To me, submitting one would be the best idea. Although if you can fit more than one for a total of 500 words, I suppose you could. It’s just, doesn’t the supplement say write “an” essay? Not “some”.

My D was really tempted to send two supplemental essays- called the admissions office and they did not seem too thrilled about the idea. She decided is was not worth risking annoying the adcom. Realize that at Harvard even one supplemental essay is optional. So two might seem like you don’t know when to stop.

It really depends on WHY you think you want to submit so many essays. If you are a brilliant writer, and can communicate a variety of subtle points about yourself in the essays then by all means submit more. If however, you think there is some repetition/reinforcement in your essays, and you just want to submit more for the sake of doing so, then definitely DO not submit more as it will simply predispose the adcom unfavorably toward both your writing and your judiciousness.

I submitted two, but I think BOTH of the essays are very important. so if you feel you can blend the two into one or you can dismiss one, it will be awesome if you just send two.
