HELP!!!!!!! Chances to get into Cornell, pennstate, Ohio state, UCLA?

Hello and thanks for reading. Please chance me and give me suggestions on matches for me or what can help me through my admissions process.

1) my GPA is terrible due to lots of family deaths, freshman year lost my aunt ( who I lived with) and was completely dramatized. Beginning of my junior year I lost my grandma ( who I was also living with after my aunt passed away). I couldn't focus in school knowing that I lost who cared for me and supported me all my life. Therefore my 9-11 grade gpa was atrocious. Barely passed every class, PGA was a 2.0 or so. I learned to overcome the deaths and made straight A's my first marking period of senior year (99 average). And will continue doing the same.

2)I also took my sats in June and received a 2150, but in the practice tests I've recently been taking I'm hitting 2260-2300 ( going to take the test again in October )

3) I have been involved in a lot of ECs . 4 years of lacrosse, DECA (business club), build on (school club), omni club, a tech club, and also have over 200 hrs of community service.

4) I'm also African American ( heard that helps )

5) will I have a chance to attend any of the schools I stated? Will colleges notice my senior year improvements? Can you also please list schools that I can attend? Can I reason my bad gpa for grades 9-11? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Wait, I’m confused… Have you already graduated high school?

Yes it does.
A lot.

I think you have a very good chance at all these schools (with Cornell being the longest-shot but not out of reach).

Don’t forget to explain your low early GPA at any opportunity that you can! And besides Cornell, you’ll likely make it into these schools. There are some schools out there that don’t look at freshman grades, which might help your average.

Thanks! How can I explain my gpa?

How can I explain my gpa?

sadly, I wouldn’t bank on UCLA. people with gpa’s of 3.8 don’t get in. it would help if you were in any honor’s societies, captain of lax, president/treasurer etc of clubs and have outstanding awards in something too. your sat’s are really good so that is a huge plus but uc schools don’t look at those so much anymore. better beef up that essay! good luck

Unfortunately, a GPA below 3.0 will pretty much ensure that you won’t get into UCLA and Cornell. And it still might be hard to get into the other two. So write amazing essays and try hard to explain your situation

Ok, thanks!!

Can you guys suggest schools that I can get into?
