I'm an Egyptian student, I will be starting Math1 next year and the year after Math2, I want to buy a calculator but I'm not sure which one to get, I saw on some forums people say TI-89 Titanium, others say TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. I want to buy a calculator that would help me for the longest period possible because they are really expensive.

If you want one that will last get the Ti-89 Titanium

but the TI-84 is good as well

My kids have each used the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition for years, and that model has done everything they’ve needed it to do along the way. I don’t know the price differences between your two choices, but I can tell you that their TI-84’s have been more than sufficient for them.

I have used the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition for a few years, and it’s served me well.

I can’t comment on the TI-89, though, as my school doesn’t allow it (that is, the calculator not my commentary :)).

I have the TI-89 and I love it! It has CAS so it solves any algebraic equation, differential, integral, etc. GET IT!

Funny, silverturtle! Clever.

That’s another point, ZaSherboMan. The TI-84 is definitely authorized in every calculator-approved test my kids have ever taken. Not all calculators are, as silverturtle pointed out.

TI89 for sure.

It’s so helpful on SATs and stats/physics/math everything in college. You can enter in an equation in the messiest possible form and it will give you an answer.
