TI-84+ or TI-89 for SAT I and SAT Math 2c

Hello folks,

I want to buy a new calculator,
but I dont know which one want to buy... ti-89 titanium or ti-84+

I only buy it for SAT I and SAT II math 2c....
the Ti-89 titanium is 199 euro and ti-84plus 99 euro, silver edition is 167 euro

The chance I will use these calculators after my SAT tests are nihil, because at my school use a n other calculator and the Ti-89 is forbidden.

I wonder what your opinion about this dilemma is.....

choose the one that you are more comfortable with. Both can do math good but i reccomend the ti-89 since i have been using it for more than a year now

Is a Ti-89 necessary for College???

and is there anyone else who want to response on my previous post
??

The TI-84 is much easier to get used to, and it costs much less. If you're only going to use it a few times, then the TI-84 would probably be better.

I only had a TI-84+ Silver Edition for the SAT I and IIC, and I got an 800 and a 760.

Ti-89 is a great calculator but 199 euros is a rip off, that is approximately 240 US dollars. I bought my Ti-89 Titanium for 150 US dollars.. so i think you should buy from an american retailer if possible (try amazon).. and its about $150 everywhere..

I want to buy it from a american retailer, but it cannot ship to europe

An another option is first sent the TI-89 to my uncle in LA and then he send it to me. But the problem is I think the VAT for import will be high

wouldnt amazon ship to europe??

For both the SAT I and the SAT Math 2c, even a Ti-84+ is unnecessary, a Ti-83 will do. Most people switch from the Ti series to the Casio series in college, so I wouldn't reccomend splurging on the calculator.

No amazon dont ship electronic products to europe

if you can, get ti89 for math 2c. it's not about graphing, it's its incredible solving powers that might give you an edge on 3-5 questions.
in college you'd need it only if you major in math or physics.
there is still battle going on between ti89/voyage and casio classpad armies. voyage and casio ae not allowed on sat anyway, and i hear many math teachers in colleges ban ti89s use on tests.

Check out the HP 49G+

Better than the TI-89 or TI-83+

hm-m, just checked comments on amazon. people complain a lot.
i don't trust much 5 stars, but thumbs down are pretty reliable.

buy it on ebay. every so often certain sellers (bulk buyers?) list them with the option "buy now". means you don't need to compete with the crazy crowd fighting not for the best price but just 'cause the victory is oh so sweet.
use search function to spot such deals.
just make sure it's listed as a brand new in unopened plastic, and even more important - seller has a pristine rating history..
there is always a risk to be scammed, but lately ebay/paypal cracked down on perps. besides, ti89's aren't in such a huge demand that fly-by con artists can make quick bucks before moving on to the next user name.
if you succeed, could you pls let us know?

You must get the 89. Best calculator ever. 200 euros though? Blah - I'd say ebay.

I dont know for sure, what if I got tricked with a 100 euro deal.
Then I wasted 100 euro, what I could used to buy a new one here.

And thereby there are no advertisements from my country for a Ti-89

It's incredibly rare to be tricked on ebay. And, worst case scenario, you do a stop payment on your credit card.

I bought ti89 in a store on christmas sale (just was not sure if i was going to like it, so i wanted to be able to return; i love it!).
But:
for my friends I bought on ebay
two brand new ti84+ silver for $73 and $85 (amazon price $134),
shipping, insurance, thank you card included.

I bought a lot of CDs on ebay, some from europe,
never had any problems.

i bought a ti-89 titanium right when it came out.!! Ti-89 ALL THE WAY!!Highly recommended!!!!#@$#$%#

i used the ti-89 titanium on mathiic and it saved me a bunch of time because the titanium can do so much more than a ti-84 can (which is probably why it's banned in your school -- it saves you a bunch of calculations)
