Ima be a freshman next year for the sas, I want to be a radiation physicist, so I have decided to major in physics at Rutgers. Where would most of my classes for this major be located at? I preffer convenience over fun so where my classes are located is more important to me than any other factor. Also if anyone is more inform about radiation physics that is attending or has attended Rutgers, do you recommend me to major in something else? any advices?. Can anyone recommend the best campus for a physics major, who doesn't want to be bored all the time, but doesn't want non-stop partying.

Busch. <a href=“Mathematical Sciences and Physics Library | Rutgers University Libraries”>http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/physics Rutgers University;

Im heavily discouraged by the comments I have seen about Busch, almost all of them are negative.

Busch gets a bad rep for not being as scenic as say Cook/Douglass, but it has its perks. The BAMM complex of freshman dorms have the largest rooms of any of the Rutgers dorms plus they are air cooled during the warmer months. BEST dorms are literally the quality of a hotel and have personal A/C units. The Busch Dining Hall is solid (I would say second best behind Livingston) and the BCC has other food options as well as study spaces. Woody’s Cafe at the former UMDNJ takes meal swipes. All physics classes are on Busch, so that’s a plus. I’m curious, what are the comments you have heard about Busch?

More than likely you will be placed on Livingston as a freshman, so keep that in mind.

I have heard that its mostly full of people who arent that sociable, so they like studying a lot and I figure those people wouldn’t be fun. There are people who are sociable and fun, but I heard the majority of busch are really good students who put having fun at last. Also i dont discriminate but I heard the campus is full of asian people who are focused on studies. Some guy in another forum posted that his sister and friends lived in busch and dont recommend it to anyone. Busch is definitely in my top 2 with Livingston I keep switching between them two

You said this: “I prefer convenience over fun so where my classes are located is more important to me than any other factor.” So the answer is Busch. You will make friends on any campus you live on.

Those are some serious generalizations there. Obviously Busch has a bit more Asian students than other campuses since it is home to majors with a higher percentage of non-white students (engineering, pharmacy, math/physics, etc) compared to other majors. Busch also houses the most students of any campus. The Busch suites area houses entirely sophomores of all majors. The various apartments have mostly senior and junior students. There are more than enough people on Busch to find those who share similar interests and lifestyles as yourself. Also, don’t write off engineering and other related majors as people who just study all the time. Believe me, most students regardless of campus don’t sit in their dorm studying all the time. My first two years I lived in buildings on Busch which were entirely engineers and the weekend nights were some of the rowdiest I have seen in dorms. lol

Thank you, that was really insightful information.
