Best Campus in New Brunswick

So I just wanted to know which campus you like the best and why. Busch, Livingston, college av, or cook/douglass?

It would depend on your major and what your looking for in a campus.

For example I’m an engineering major so I’d like to live on Busch because that’s where all my classes are. It’s also where the sports stadiums are located and it’s in Piscataway rather then New Brunswick which I prefer. There’s also a little less partying there so I’m not as distracted.

@ziggy90, I would live on Busch as well, but personally, I prefer Livingston if all my classes weren’t at Busch. Many people regard Busch as the “best campus” so there are so many tourists visiting SOE, SOP, UMDNJ, and of course, the stadiums. Even students who are not science majors want to live on Busch, so I know some engineers who couldn’t live on Busch because their spots in Barr were taken by other majors.

Livingston will be the best campus in 1-2 years. New student center, renovated campus, new dorms, and peaceful compact campus.

^ I agree. Livingston was a little depressing last year though, I didn’t like it very much. But it’s improving :)

I love Busch, and I lived in Barr. It just gets a little overcrowded since it’s a big campus.

There were a couple non-engineers in Barr for some reason. I don’t know how or why, but it might have something to do with when people apply for housing. I applied right when the housing app came out, but people who applied late were placed on cook or livingston. Also, if you applied for Barr and it’s full, they’ll place you in Mattia, which is the same special-interest housing as Barr, but it’s for males only. It’s right across from Barr.

The only reason there were non-engineers in Barr when I lived there was because they first applied for special interest engineering housing, but then switched out of engineering (either before the year started or during the year).

I guess I should’ve been more specific in what I was looking for in the campus. I plan on majoring in engineering so I definitely think it would be convenient to stay on Busch. However in terms of the food/dining halls, places to hang out (besides the sports arenas), dorms, and other ammenities, what campus would you say has the best of any of those things?

Busch has a very good dining hall, and from what I hear, Cook/Douglass has the best food. Livingston’s former dining hall wasn’t good, but they built a new one that’s opening up this year. College Ave. has a small dining hall, and I heard it’s not good.

Hangouts would generally be the campus centers, dorm rooms, or dorm floor lounges. Busch has really nice housing. After the first year, it’s ridiculously competitive to get housing on Busch since it’s a lottery system. It’s very convenient to live on Busch since most of your classes will be there, and you’ll get to know all the other engineering majors that live on Busch.

I still say Busch

I think that will be the best place for you to live, but the good thing is that if any other campus has somthing else you like there’s the bus system. I can’t give a whole lot of details about each one because I’m just starting there this fall, but I’ve been up to Rutgers about ten times so I’ve been to all the campuses.

All the parties are on college ave and it’s probably a goodhang out spot during the day too, but I wouldn’t want to live there. It’s right in New Brunswick and those apartments get robbed sometimes. Just take the bus there.

Busch and Livingston are in Piscataway basically right next to each other. Livingston has the new student center which is really nice and the basketball stadium. Busch has the football stadium and the best fitness center. It’s also where almost all of your classes will be so you wouldn’t have to take buses to class which is a big deal. I can’t compare the dorms, I’ve only been in the Busch dorms and they were ok, nothing special. I’ve been in a few of the dining halls and I thought Busch had one of the best.

Cook/Douglas are pretty far away from Busch. I don’t know a whole lot about those, but I think it would be too much of an inconvenience for you. I don’t know of any engineering majors living there.

Brower Commons on College Ave, according to many students, is over crowded and has god-awful food. I heard Busch has the best food. Neilson on Cook/Douglass has very good food too, because I ate there several times during All-State band seasons. But if you hate high school kids, don’t go there in February because the All State band comes to visit.

Taking into account distance from classes and the like, which campus is best for your typical cut-and-dry humanities/history/english student? Most of the courses will probably meet on College Ave, but I definitely haven’t heard many good things about the dorms there. Not to mention the entire party scene, which I’m not looking for - Busch seems the most studious, but is it time consuming to get to class on day on foot? How are the buses?

is it true that people that are going to dorm in the new busch science building move in on the 26th this year? since its special interest housing

how nice are the off campus apartments? I am planning on find one to live with my bro. He is in the business school in NB and I will be going to SAS.

@phoenixakari Jeff Broggi told us it was the 26th on the facebook group.
