Help choosing a career

Could anyone name some careers that might fit/interest me?

I have an excellent memory and have solid reasoning ability, rather analytical if I do say so myself. I am not overly social, but I am friendly enough when need be. I do not enjoy science or mathematics, but I am decent at math and science (strong point). I want a lot of money. What would be a good career for me?

So far, all I can think of is radiology, dermatology, anesthiaology (spelling?), orthopaedology (spelling?), investment banking, management consulting, sales and trading, accounting, pornographer, web designer.

I am only mildly interested in medicine, but I like the pay in those specialities and the prestige of being a doctor.

I think I would hate investment banking, but the pay is good.

Same with consulting, but hate it to a lesser degree.

Sales and trading, very interested, not sure how exactly I could break into such a career.

Accounting, dull, backup career for me.

Porn industry - extremely interested and want to break into this career, but not sure how to get in

Web design - not interested, but a lot of website owners are extremely rich

Medicine, business, or porn? This is America, the land of opportunity. Why not combine all three?

But seriously, don't do something just because it might bring a large salary. You're making a huge decision here, so why not do something you ENJOY? Maybe you don't know what you enjoy, though. Fine, keep looking. There might not be a job market for it-- make one.

It looks to me like you did a Google search for some of the professions with the highest average annual salary and decided to pursue them. IMO, that's misguided. You're just setting yourself up for unhappiness. I don't know you, I don't know your life, but please please please please please think seriously about your motivations here.

Let's say you do go into I-banking or medicine and net that big salary. How many sports cars, nice restaurant meals, and swimming pools will make you happy? Do you think you'll ever get tired of these 'toys'? Are you willing to spend your hard-earned salary on more and more stuff that you may or may not appreciate in five years?

Let me put this in another light--- you could also spend your salary on drug/alcohol rehab or psychiatric treatment, fighting the effects of clinical depression because you dread going to work every day. What kind of life is this where you can buy everything you could possibly want but nothing you need? My final question to you is this-- do you NEED a six-figure salary in order to give your life purpose and meaning and feel justified as a human being?

If your answer to that question is 'yes', then I hope I never know come to know you. I'm sorry, but our world views would be just too incompatible and I don't think we would get along very well.

My advice is this--- just major in finance or marketing and have a lot of sex on the side. If you're lucky, someone will leak it to the press and you'll make a small fortune off the DVD sales....

Don't worry about Ibanking, 98.23% of the members on this board will not even come close to landing an internship or job at a BB firm.

You have to go to a target school. Also you must have related experience -- no virgins.
